For ONLY those who do NOT have MOO3 yet
Please don't vote if you have the game already (yeah, I know people will still vote to skew the results, but I can ask nicely, can't I?)
So, based on what you've seen/read/heard about the game so far, are you going to buy it?

I wanted the game before and still want it.
the major concerns i have are over the AI (which will be fixed i presume) and the fact that its a "deep strategy" game that in fact is quite easy to beat because the ai runs it for you.
i think, however that as the AI gets tougher it will be harder to win just by sitting back and pressing end turn, so im as keen as ever to dive in to the MOO experience.

Well, I voted for "Wanted it but now I won't buy it" but that doesn't quite explain it.
I never played a game of MOO (any version) so I wasn't looking forward to buying the game. But then, I saw it in the store and it was like "gee, I haven't bought a game in awhile" so I almost bought it. I decided to wait, came here to see what was going on, was horrified at the posts and reviews, and finally decided not to buy it.

Interesting perspective. I had only played MOO2, and I was one of the few 4x fans who wasn't that impressed with it. I think I only played through one complete game. It just didn't thrill me--felt kinda hollow.
However, I was excited about MOO3 until I read all the horrible reviews and player comments. So I'm gonna avoid it. I may reconsider once a patch is released if it makes a noticeable difference, but I don't foresee that as being too likely.
It's also interesting that, of the votes so far, nobody who had previously not wanted the game now wants it. I think that speaks volumes...

I didn't vote -- there's no "I wanted it, but am now undecided" option. Enough criticisms have come out that I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. The first patch or two will make up my mind. Civ3 didn't really get playable until about the third patch went by, now I finally find myself playing it more often (though still tweaking what I consider some flawed default rules).

I was interested in the game during its development, although I never allowed myself to become obsessed. A couple of weeks ago I let myself become more interested - started downloading screenshots, and even considered buying it upon release. Then the reviews came in, and my interest in the game shrivelled rapidly. I only felt mild disappointment.
I will only buy MoOIII now if it makes the bargain bins in a couple of years for $4.95 [Australian].

If the exchange rate is even close to what it was in 1993, that's approx 70 cents American!
Maybe I should move to Australia, I know the women a very nice to be around.

I voted banana. When I first heard that they were going to do this game, I was elated. But, as time went on and we saw all the great proposals for the game dwindle away ( ), I started having really bad feelings about it; the foul stench of another Battlecruiser 3000 AD debacle began filtering in...
Now that the game is out, a lot of damning reviews have been written. SimCity 4 also came out a little broken, so I should have waited until at least the first patch before buying. I'm going to do that with MOOIII...God I hope the developers can correct the more damaging errors in the game...otherwise, I'm spending my money on GalCiv and waiting to buy MOOIII from the bargin bin...
EDIT / Update: Puchased the game from Best Buy on 03-16-03 (before the first patch) we'll see how it turns out for me...

I wanted it before, badly. As it is now, I'll wait to see how much the patch helps single player, and how GalCiv turns out to be.

I was interested initially when I heard the game was being made. However, certain things made me wary of this game. I wasn't sure whether I would get the game or not.
Well, I decided to wait for reviews from 'Poly people, and we all know how they turned out.
I may yet still test the game out, but more than likely I will just forget about it and find something else.

Boris, you should have had an option for, "I wanted the game beforehand, and I still plan on buying it -- from the bargain bin!"
At your option, you could change out from the bargain bin! for for me to poop on!

I never played MOO or MOO2. As I understand it they are micro-management-style games that I'm unlikely to enjoy. MOO3 seems to have pissed off many players who enjoy that type of game and consequently I've wondered if may be more enjoyable for me. On the other hand I've seen a lot of complaints about switching from screen to screen to find stuff so it may still be too much micro-management to interest me.
I may pick it up from the bargain bin sometime in the future just to have a look at it. I doubt that I will ever rush out to buy any games after the CIV3/PtW debacle.

For the record, I would consider the "wait until bargain bin" option kinda like the "will not buy" one, since it's not making any profit for the game company.

I'm the biggest fan of MOO2, but moo3 sucks, with the high expectation that they have been putting into our heads for this game, all went down the drain. I recommand other game compay should recreate MOO3

I wanted it, and still do, but intend to wait a while. I want to see some patching, and I'm waiting for a good friend of mine to slog through the game enough to bring me up to speed (thus lessening the frustration period Arnelos speaks of in his thread).
I'm ok with CivIII for now, so there is no rush to get a new game.
For the record, I played MOO and MOOII. MOO was awesome (for its time), kinda like CivI. I was a bit disappointed in MOOII, even though I liked it. I liked it, but I wanted more from it... though I'm not entirely sure I could put my finger on what.

I waited for some years Moo3, then didn't wait for it, then I learned it'll be soon out, and wanted to buy it ... but saw GalCiv would be out soon, read the interviews, sites and forums of both, now I'll definitely NOT buy Moo3 but get GalCiv !

I voted Wanted it before, but won't buy it now because of the many horrific reviews the game has garnered. I never played MoO in any previous incarnation, but I was really getting excited about this one. From what I'd read along the development process, it sounded as though they were taking the game in new and exciting directions; unfortunately, much of that new direction was abandoned along the way, and what's left doesn't look at all impressive.
So instead I finally sprung for Civ III: PTW (for the new civs, units, etc., not for multiplayer, since I don't ever use multiplayer) and will buy GalCiv when that comes out.

I voted bananas. I am waiting for an ai patch to be criticised here before I decide myself. If the ai cannot defend itself it is not worth buying, and GalCiv looks like it will be a better buy for me.
I'd have bought MOO3 whatever the critics if IFPs had been in, just to see how it turned out to be, but now I am inclined not to buy it, unless the ai is a challenge and you don't lose because someone in a senate you never heard of has won a vote.

I like, how in every thread, everyone who doesn't like MOO 3, says they will wait and buy GalCiv.
If GalCiv sucks, I'm going to laugh. If it doesn't, I'll buy it.

Actualy, I was planning to buy it in a few weeks time when my wife and kids are away for a month. I downloaded a warez copy to see if it would be worth my money and have decided it isn't. Maybe I'll get Medieval Total War in stead. It's a petty though because I was looking forward to MoO3.

i was interested but after the complaints i'm 99% sure i won't like it. many of flames i could probably have written myself if i had bought moo3. the article where the devs admit the game is messed up is pretty amazing. i don't know how you could want to buy it after reading that.

I was really interested in this. Then I got worried when my favorite options were taken out (ethos, limited points). Now, I won't buy it until it hits $20.

DESPITE the bad reviews I read on this forum, I still plan to buy it.
I was of course interested in it, although not exactly desperately craving for it.
I only had a partial experience with MoO2, got it very late from a bargain bin (actually Bingmang GIFTED it to me, including overseas shipping!) and never got very experienced in it, as SMAC hogged almost all my playing time in the last 4 years.
I am not really inclined to let a NEW game take hold of all my free time, at the moment. For this reason, I wasn't planning to get it anyway before Easter.
I WILL buy it anyway, because:
- I like to OWN such classic milestones, 4x TBS being almost the only genre I play
- I NEED to get hold of the original US version, BEFORE it gets out of stock as it gets replaced in local shops by the dreaded localised version which I *loathe* ON PRINCIPLE.
Hell, I think I even ended to buy CtPII but then never even unwrapped it!
___
BTW, partially contradicting what I told above, I had played for a while the SE IV demo, last year.
Not exactly breathtaking, but passable.
Well, on a whim, I resolved to purchase SE IV Gold online, last week, 40$ + 20$ shipping , and last night, just wanting to walk thru a quick rehearsal, I stood up till 5 am....
