MGE or FW?!
I just had a thought, save games arn't compatable with versions of Civ other than those they were created on, so we must choose which version we will play on.

I have both so I'm OK but some people won't.
I suggest we use MGE as FW can be upgraded if nessicary via Cedic's patch:

Edit: links removed, you can find it at Civfanatics downloads (can I say that?!)

I have both... either is fine. Is there any difference in play (I know MGE is harder than 2.42, for instance)?

I voted FW; MGE has that bug with objectivex3 cities which will make getting an accurate score difficult.

It's not like anyone looks at the score anyway
Besides as a mac user I can only participate if we use MGE, FW doesnt exist for macs. Not a major issue for most people I suppose but I'd really like to play

Have both, prefer MGE for the various reasons above.

Sorry Henrik, I didn't realize that! In that case I change my vote to MGE (not that it looks like its going to be needed ).

MGE

BTW-
Greeny, you should edit your post to remove cedric's link, before Ming does. 'Poly does not endorse that patch.

MGE, as I don't have FW. (Actually, I do, but I don't have it installed. Somehow, I lost my 2.42 CD...)

Same here, I know of the update, I don't think Civ2's even installed on *this* PC though... A shame upon me

Do scenario's play different depending on which version?
Ie b/w FW and MGE

I have the original civ2 with the upgrade FW cd, would red front AI play differently under the MGE exe file?

There is a big diffrence
under FW the first german moves were always the same under Civ MGE I have found its much different and it seems to select higher attack units first.

I had to get MGE for the democrocy game and had a test run of RF with it and it seams much harder!
