JIHAD "R" US
...and so it was that, late in 1848, the people brought forth a new leader, strong and willing, with tall, handsome ears, and installed him to the presidency with the overwhelming demand that a new, faith-based government be installed, forthwith and post hate, er, haste.
The Bunny Imam surveys the world as we know it and foresees a great and noble crusade, to bring the world to a new destiny -- unification under the one true religion -- ours.
1848/adjust -- Incrementally rushed a freighter, a couple tanks, and a battleship. Everything else seems to make sense. (Very nice to run a kingdom of just a few (huge!!) cities, vs. the 50+ city micromanagement that tends to be required in other successions!! )
1850
--Spending spree leaves only 191 GP left, but our per-turn revenue is a net +993 GP, so no worries!
--Weenie Meanie celebrates.
--Pollution seemingly everywhere (well, 5 tiles).
--As foretold by the great god SCG, FUNDY IS OURS!!
--We select Flight over Atomic Theory and Recycling.
--We select Revolution.
1851
--The religious right takes power and declares JIHAD! against all wrong-thinking civs.
--Reputation is indeed spotless.
--Ship chain activated, with a retinue of spies and armor (plus a lone marine division) dispatched to investigate the home island of the Roman republic, taking up posts in several undefended fortresses..
--Spies report Antium nearly defenseless (cruc, cannon, rifle)
--Veii (the capital) has walls and 2 riflemen.
--Rome has walls and 4 riflemen.
--Romans ask us to leave. We decline, but they spare us their wrath.
--Banks added to Weenie Meanie and Land's End, plus a Factory in Bad Leroy Brown.
--Sliders drift to a nifty 80-0-20.
--We request parley with Livia, who again demands we leave. We decline. She spares us. We demand tribute. Romans declare WAR!
--Cruisers quickly empty Antium (8), which is summarily entered, netting 102 GP and Atomic Theory. Partisans take to the hills. (Well, all they have is grasslands and plains...).
--Spy pulls down the city walls in Veii, armored divisions quickly trash the city's two defenders and enter. We gain 189 GP and Colossus. Roman government escapes to Rome.
--We chat with the Spanish, giving them 2 techs in exhange for their latest maps.
--Similar parleys with other civs (Germans, Indians, Babylonians) yield demands for Tactics and Mobile Warfare -- not something we Meanies just give away to infidel scoundrels like them.
--Germans and Indians take it personally. Yeah -- WAR!
1852
--Factory built in Maxwell's Hammer
--Americans learn secret of Combustion (submarines).
--Another loaded Transport enters the ship chain.
--Hut yields 50 GP
--Spies target Rome walls and eventually succeed.
--Rome falls -- the island is ours!! We get 23 GP and a city of 20+ population. Our total pop now at 31.24 MM.
--Roman civ condition = 66 GP, Republic, with a strange-sounding new capital called "NONE."
1853
--Hmm, not much damage left to be done in my paltry 5 turns. We decide to target "accessible cities with desirable Wonders." That means Cumae (Adam Smith) and Boston (Magellan's).
--Indians learn secret of Refining and give it to the Germans. And everyone else.
--Babylonians change to Republic
--Bribe surviving Partisans on Roman island @ 122 ea. to act as garrison troops.
--Slip of the (allegedly...) sticky mouse fouls up the ship chain.
1854
--Religious icons and artifacts are trashed and/or sold on eBay as remaining Roman island populace is gently encouraged to embrace their new Fundy regime.
--Troops and ships begin steaming toward our target cities, NNE of old Rome.
--Two tanks and a spy deploy on large continent NW of Rome, begin exploring.
--Barbarians develop Bronze Working!!! (I've NEVER seen a Barbarian city develop a tech before...)
--Before realizing his 5 turns are done, the Super Large Meanie does some rushbuying. Nothing major, just a Battleship and a few other odds''n'ends...
--The Bunny Imam checks the one metric that he really cares about his reputation. Seeing it remains Spotless, he retires, leaving these notes to his learned and holy successor, STYOM...
1. Home island basically producing a blend of Armor, Spies, Transports and Cruisers/Battleships, incrementally rushing as much as needed.
2. The Battleship and pending transport ship on the western part of the home island are intended to sail for Madrid soonest. It's 12 screens away, but they are a pathetic civ (with just the one city), so It seemed like it would be a good base of operations for distant ops.
3. I totally ignored exploration and techs. We may want to develop Flight and use airports to conquer this huge map. That would mean a return to trade.
4. Magellan's +2 sea movement would be a huge aid, but please be aware that the evil Americans own both that WoW and have submarines. Approach with due caution!!
5. The Roman cities due west or us look pretty weak. A single well-chosen expeditionary force could likely take them all.
6. I think it's time to transition at least part of the home continent's production toward exploration and hut-popping. But that's just one bunny's opinion...
7. I started our new Roman cities toward unit production. In retrospect, we may want to rushbuy some white goods to turn them into production cities first. Mea culpa.
Well, I'll be shocked if this comes around to me again, but with only 5 turns/player perhaps I'll get a chance.
Hey, all-out war is MUCH FUN!!!

Now, a word about our sponsors...
Before I post the save, I just wanted to take a moment to compliment the Scouse Gits for their efforts.
I was especially impressed that they went to the trouble to rename all the titles. Looking at my save file, it was cool to see the "Small Meanie" "Large Meanie" and Fundamentalist "Super Large Meanie" titles.
Very nicely done, you Gits!!

are you sure we can trust those infidels with the defense of our cities, even just as garrisons? Just last turn they were up in arms against us, sworn to fight to the death - and now we are giving them the run of the island???

1 and 3 are in tact, but #2?
possible solutions:
1) replay last 2 turns
2) immediately disband all bribed partisans and consider lost bribes the fine for disobediance
3) just have the partisans disbanded towards other units, pretending that the gold was spent on rushing units
4) other?

OMGhowcouldthishavehappenedIwasn'tevendrinking!!!
Once we hit jihad and I induced the Romans to declare war whilst remaining of Spotless repute, my only thought was: The gloves are off!
That island was full of tanks and the partisans were so much dead meat. I really just left 3 to bribe to save a build turn.
I suggest we disband them toward Fanatics and move forward. But we should wait until the Scousers issue a ruling.
As for me, I herewith surrender myself to the tender mercies of the Sticky Mouse Institute.
(Sorry about that, lads.)

Take one thousand lines:
"I must not bribe partisans!"
to be inscribed with a bradawl on the marble floor of The Institute's main corridor prior to repolishing to a mirror like finish using a toothbrush!
Disband all partisans into a single fanatic and continue the mayhem
Apart from that old lag - good turns ...

now that that is cleared up nice turns I was wondering how long it would take to goad them into war so we could stay spotless And I wouldn't at all be surprised if you get another turn in Jihad - we have 1 player on the injured reserve and another also temporarily out of action, and until we capture boston (at least 2 players away at the earliest), we are going to take a long time just to get to foreign cities.
as for the shipchain, i was thinking - if Beggarsville or Antium builds a transport every turn, we can extend the ship chain so that we can launch units from one of our islands for a same turn attack on a far away island when the first transport gets there. just have the cruisers running in front of the first transport so that we can create a beachhead first
I'm a little green in non-conversion war games so feel free to critique that idea

And sadly, no, the "old lag" pun does not survive the jouney to US shores. But I appreciate the effort and feel mildly enriched.

Jihad R Us.
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... .d
1854: Grand Meanie emeritus STYOM finds religion. BAD religion Now our ememies will suffer... for you are the government now, quoth the advisors, as they finish brewing their recipe for hate
Some adjustments are made. We'd like to have some toga parties for the extra trade, and we'd like some science too, so a lot of specialists are adjusted and the tax rate changed. 6.4.0 gets almost all our 'core' cities celebrating, and we can tone that back once the celebrations are self sustaining.
A little rushbuying done, nothing major. We may want to get some trade going again, so as to pick up Flight and ultimately radio for airports.
Babylonians discover Feudalism.
1855: Celebrations just about everywhere! Net increase in revenues of about 280 g/turn after luxuries are dropped to 30%, and I expect Freight deliveries will look a lot better now
Cripes, BB's move at 4? Where's Ferdy Magellan when we need him?
Advanced Tribe Frothing at 140, 166.
3 Partisans disbanded in Rome to create one Fanatic.
Invasion fleet sails from Green Meanie.
Roman Frigate vainly attacks Antium
1856: Green Meanie builds Bank and we coax a celebration out of the puritan residents
Gems>Pool of Grace 414g, Oil>MeanCity 322g,210g, Dye>Maxwell 232g,
Riflemen from hut at 142,160.
Romans acquire Combustion. Americans develop Flight.
1857: Oil>BigBadBill 294 g. We're swimming in cash. Next stop, Flight and Radio, which the Americans are researching.
Germans learn Electronics.
1858: Oil>MeanCity 357g, Silk>Rome 206g.
1859: Oil>Beggarsville 92 g, Dye>Maxwell 252 g, Oil>MeanCity 105 g. Cumae captured, with Adam Smith's Trading Company We tell Livia to do something unpleasant when she asks to speak with us, and remain Spotless
We now have a foothold on the Indian/American/Babylonian/Roman inhabited continent. In the words of the immortal Jackie Chiles, "I been wantin a piece of them for years!"
Byzantium destroyed. Viroconium sacked.
Romans move capital to Lugdunum
Germans and Spanish ally against us...
1860: Flight discovered; researching Computers (other choices were Guerrilla, Recycling, and Nuclear Fission).
Dye>Rome 198g, Copper>Rome 171 g.
Neapolis captured. Still Spotless!
STYOM hies off to a nunnery and wishes his successor good luck
********************
Looks good from here on in. We've got lots of cash to rush Airports with as soon as we get the tech. Note the invasion fleet headed to Spain, and the two loaded transports W of Cumae, headed towards Atlanta (and then Boston & Ferd M. )

Do i hear a canal calling me?
[straybow mode]I notice that Cumae is building an engineer - is that for building railroads? or a canal?? [/straybow mode]
I see a definite possibility that JRabbit was right about not getting a second go round in jihad. If we build a city at the indicated spot, we have easy access to the southern coast of the Americans and Indians without having to loop around to Atlanta or Washington, cutting a lot of travel time off for our ships and the emptying process. That combined with what appears to be rather extensive railroading by the AI for minor cities means we may well be able to have our spies knock out the city walls of the AI in no time flat and be left with mostly mop-up operations.

Good catch on the canal - I was actually thinking to use some rushed engineers to quickly build a road (later RR) N and then E to the US territories. That'll be faster than ship transport, and less vulnerable to attack. But then, you can go either way on that.
Also, last night it was kind of late when I posted - hopefully my successor will note the transport heading from the former Roman homeland back to our core cities, with Freight aboard.

Looks like I'm up.
Finally.
We shall rid the world of the infidels and their feeble gods constructed by their own hands.
We shall seek to gather their women into our fold.

Build 6 airports, 3 home continent, 3 more on American continent.
Now can airlift 6 units/turn!
1864
Squash Detroit
Partisans capture Lugdunum
Spies destroy Philadelphia's Walls
Tanks overrun Philadelphia, 500 gold!
Tanks crush Chicago.
Americans are Toast!
Gems to Pool of Grace 443
Rush 3 more Airports on former American continent,
Airlift oil to home continent.
Meet with Spanish, Demand tribute, we go to war.
Meet with Babylonians, Demand tribute, also get war.
Meet with Indians, Demand tribute, still no war.
1865
Find Roman city of Lutetia
Smash invading Babylonian troops.
Sink Babylonian Caraval with Battleship
Oil to Rome 145 gold
Spice to New York 1070 gold
Meet with Indians, Demand tribute, no war yet.
Notes, one Airport in construction, to deliver gold freight.
We will get computers next turn.
You will get to start two invasions, the Spanish and the Babylonians next turn.
Build a couple of ships to begin an invasion of the Germans.
Shipchain in place to take on Indians.
Shipchain in place for Babylonians as well.
Should be a heap of fun

I have the save & am willing to pass judgment on the sins of my predecessor. If there are no objections, I’ll simply disband all the units in and supported by the five suspect cities, disband all the partisans and then dissolve the five cities in question. The purchased prostitutes will simply be shunned & not accepted in our holy empire.
Unless I hear otherwise I’ll start tonight & Bob_Smurf42 can finish the cleansing.

Obiwan, with your permission, I'll post my save & we can play on. Since we haven't had a ruling, I think that my "corrections" will fit the spirit of the crime in a similar fashion to SG's ruling last time.
1865 -- The cleansing of the prostitutes. To eliminate the false from the true, we disband all the partisans wherever they are. We also start to take apart Hispalis (size 3), Akkad (size 8), Ravenna (size 7), Pisae (size 8), and Lugdunum (size 3) brick by brick and will shun any of their supported forces – they are all disbanded. We also notice significant pollution & only 1 Barracks. Maybe we should listen to an advisor on this…nah. Discover computers, opt for Robotics.
1866 – The five nameless towns spout refuges, be we deny their passage into our lands and instead disband them & create more homeless ones. Find Kohapur – demand that the Indians leave our future territory (they whimper something), demand tribute & they declare WAR! A randome tank smacks Kol, and the Germans declare WAR! (We later see a German Cannon west of Kol, & south of the former America, so we may travel further in that direction some day.)
Deliveries – Gold from BBB to K for 394, Dye from GM to UR for 812, Dye from BLB to Ur for 988. Three small deliveries to Rome (112, 200, & 147). Flush with Cash, we send in a truck & buy SETI. Also but a few barracks & a couple of Mass Trans.
We take Madrid (380g), Asher (211g), Kol (72), and Calc (202g)
1867 – Discover Robotics, opt for Recycling (there is some poll, so maybe we’ll want this). The five nameless towns spout more refuges, but we deny them again. They all shrink in size. Build a mix of white stuff & war material.
Gems from MH to SF = 1280 (perhaps another deliver or two, but the accountants are looking elsewhere – so much good help is on the road nowadays, well, mistakes may happen, but there is other good news.
We take Delhi (245g – gov’t to Bombay – so what?) and Hyderabad (86g). The Romans walk into an empty Lug (they are welcome to it) and take Tactics – (they are not welcome to THAT). The Babs steal Radio (maybe they’ll build some airports, hey?)
1868 – Discover Recyc, opt for AF (no other choices). Four nameless towns remain & shrink. Some vet howies come on line.
Deliver NY Oil to MC for 420, Bos Wine to BLB for 995, & Wash Gems to PG for 1134.
Take Bang (50g), Bom (57g), and Ur (429g). Found Utah.
1869 – Discover AF opt for GW (over CA, NF, & Rock) Pop = 38M. Hispalis is vapor, three nameless towns remain.
Deliver SF Wine to SM for 1178, & Boston Gems to PoG for 1180; found Moonie and & Ugly.
Take Punjab (14g)
1870 – Discover GW, opt for Jeeps. The movement remains as does the obligation for further cleansing and purification.
