I think you can just make it. The Pentium II 350MHz will slow you down though, I believe the minimum is 300MHz. Go online and do a google search for the requirements just to double check.

Yeah it will work... just slower. Civ3 worked on my P2 - 400MhZ with 256 RAM. If you can, buy more RAM. Well, if you can, buy a new computer

I have a PIII 450 with 320MB RAM, running XP, and it is OK provided you don't want larger than standard maps. Even so the game slows in the late industrial/modern era.

If you can add another 128MB RAM and live without playing the larger map sizes it should be OK.

I had a PII/350MHz/128MB. The game ran ok, as long as I didn't choose a large or huge map or more than 8 civs. If you restrict yourself this way, you can play Civ3 on your computer. You can play larger maps or more civs, but you won't have fun in the late game, as it will get very slow.

Yes, I've had that... but thats ok! I find more than 8 IS to much to wonder about, the question is: If civ3 works, will PtW (the reason is, because one day, I've seen different system requ. oh well, must of miss seen something eles :0 )

I'm playing on a Celeron 400, which benchmarks slower than your PII so you shouldn't have any problems for the most part. Just avoid 16 civs on huge maps, or you'll be waiting forever for your turn to come up. Getting more memory would help though, you barely have enough for your OS as it is. I'm guessing ME uses up about 96 meg just on it's own, which won't leave much for the game.

Sorry, I dont know anything about tech. (Brans of cards, types of drive, etc.) And to tell you the truth, a friend from Utah gave it to me, if he didn't, I would still be on Windows 95!

The bottom line is that my computer is actually slower than yours, and I play on 256 x 256 maps with 8 civs. The turns start taking a long time towards the Industrial Era, but overall it's still playable as far as I'm concerned.

Bah, 123john321, don't give me that "no money" excuse. If my poor, college ass can afford to buy a new comp, anyone can. Just get a job delivering pizzas on the weekend. Sure it might suck, but it's a fast, tax-free way of getting a few hundred dollars in a month in order to purchase a new computer. And that is certainly worth it.

But if you can't do that... if you stick to smaller maps, your comp should be able to handle it. I don't suggest playing huge maps with like all the civs you can; or scenarios with all the civs. That can get slow.

Yes you can, there's no difference between Civ III and PTW processor wise. They just acknowledged that it will play much better on a more powerful machine, after hearing so many complaints about the long turn times.

PTW supports yet more civs (Civ3 has a 16 civs hard limit, PTW a 32 civs), so the system requirements are higher to play it out to the full extent. If you restrict yourself to 8 civs, Civ3 and PTW are the same speed-wise.
