For PS2? Personally, this game is waaaay to slow and hide and seek like for me, but with the Xbox's online capability I couldn't even think about playing this game on another system.

I've only played the PC version, and thus can only speak for it, but I've heard great things about the XBox version.
What's the max # of players w/ the Xbox GR? With the PC, it's 36 players in one game - didn't know if this was changed.

IIRC, the Xbox version can support 16 players at once. Only one person can play per Xbox (unlike Unreal or Halo where you can play splitscreen).
I think that I didn't stress in my last post the fact that I think this game is terrible. If you're such a tough soldier in this game, how come you can't even jump over a two foot high fence or run faster than 4 mph or shoot anything even at point blank range if you are moving at all?

As far as the jumping is concerned, this was intentionally left out. The makers of the game felt that it would turn it into a Half Life/RtCW type game, losing realism. Also, take into consideration the weight the soldiers are carrying around - how fast do you want them to be able to run?

I understand what you're saying. It just seems to me that they added lots of what they consider "realism" at the expense of fun.
I had one specific experience with the game that I can't stand. I had a machine gun, the enemy was 20 to 30 feet in front of me and not moving. I ran at him and unloaded 2 full clips. Nothing hit him, zero, zilch. That is not realistic. My dog could shoot someone with a big ass machine gun from 20 feet away.

I've been debating whether or not to pick this up for PS2. I mean, I have SOCOM so I'm not sure if it will ruin the experience of playing Ghost Recon.

Well you already know my opinion from reading above, but ignoring the bad gameplay, I don't think the PS2 version has a headset does it? If it doesn't you're losing out on a LOT of the game because it makes it way harder to coordinate with teammates and this is a team based game.

The PS2 version of Ghost Recon is a single player experience only. For me this is ok as IMHO Tom Clancy's games play better in single player. I get the impression that online play ends up being similiar to Half Life or MOHAA where you run around shooting everything in sight. Ghost Recon is about playing out realistic military missions.
Just my opinion though.....
