Seems like the crap enters the fan. Remember what I wrote 2 hours ago.

If Turkeys invades, they will become very fierce partisans. And if they feel that US let them down once again, just imagine the consequences! 55 000 highly motivated terrorists!

My collegue has a holiday trip booked to Turkey 6 weeks from now . I think she has lost that money, right?
And the idea of 55 000 p!ssed-off Kurdish soldiers finding themselves sold out by US just for some short-turn airspace issue doesn't help in the war against terrorism, does it?
The Bush administration enters the history books as the least competent diplomats in human history!

Thousands in roving bands temporarily took control of some downtown streets and closed several exits from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Some protesters hurled rocks at trains, briefly halting service at a station in nearby Oakland.

Yes, let's piss the people off. That's definately a good way to build popular support.

Sorry, but a statement like that can be taken in a number of ways, and it wouldn't be the first time I've heard someone being callous around here. There was someone that was even complaining how boring it was, like it was just a Hollywood movie to designed to entertain him. Thankfully some mod pulled the thread very quickly.

Guys your over-reacting to twist the situation to make it look like your right. Turkey says its only going 3 miles in N. Iraq to establish a buffer zone against refugee's.
Oh ya, stop with the metaphor's. Conflicts dont just "spill" over or "explode" like a glass of milk or firecracker.

WWI started because one person assassinated another. All it takes is some angry Kurd to take a pot shot, an angry Turk firing back, and the next thing you know everyone is firing at everyone. I hope I'm being paranoid, but anything can happen.

Sorry, but a "buffer zone" scares the **** out of me. "Our nation needs room to breathe( or buffer zone)" who am I paraphrasing.
Not that I'm comparing the current Turkish admin to some unfortunate characters in history but its the same s**t over and over again (my neighbour's tree blocks out the sun in my garden, this is the greatest injustice in history, they will die!)
Forgive my irreverence but when my country was having the crap bombed out of it last century it was partly our sense of humour that got us through, dispite the indifferance of the mighty and just American military.
It may sound a John Lennon cliche but why cant everyone just get along or at least tolerate each other without violence.
As anyone who goes out drinking on a Saturday night knows, violence solves nothing.........

Well it still remains to be seen what their intentions are. If their goal is refugee control as they claim, then it might just blow over with minor incidents at best. We'll just have to wait and see. One theory is that they want to block the Kurds from controlling the oilfields around Kirkusk. If that's the case, the Kurds aren't going to be pleased.

Unlikely, but possible, I suppose. Vietnam in a different form, just general chaos and neverending snafus during the reconstruction period... Turkey could definitely help turn this thing into a complete cluster ****.

I've been watching interviews with some ex-patriate Kurds living in the US. They're happy Saddam is about to be toast, but they don't trust the US after what happened with Bush Sr. If they feel they've been betrayed once again, there'll be 55 - 70,000 ready made terrorists making life miserable for coalition and reconstruction troops afterwards.
