How crap are helicopter gun ships?
From what I've heard most of the British and American fatalities in this war so far are due to helicopter crashes.
Can someone in the know give me the lowdown on their reliability record in past conflicts, and whether this is just coincidental.
This is a discussion about helicopter gun ships, I don't want any general Iraq discussion threadjacking. Keep it on the subject of helicopters.

Well, this went downhill pretty fast.
As for the helicopters, I'm not really sure. The British ones were Sea Kings, which crash almost all the time. Makes you wonder why they bother with them.

I'm sure the Iraquis don't really care for your aesthetic pleasures, at this time.
two of your hellos went downhill, and they shouldn't be there in the 1st place.
the fact that how this happened is they collided in mid air makes it mildly amusing, in your slaughter house.
but let's keep it on topic:
I say it's the brit wrong way of driving myself.

Anyway, back to Helicopters, people.
How many died in accidental helicopter crashes in Gulf War I?

You could consider the chopper that went down in New York state a week ago as well...

They are far from the safest means of transporting infantry, but they are damn convenient for combat purposes.

Quick search on Google says that 17 helicopters were lost in Gulf War I but whether any of them were accidents I don't know...

Although, questioning all helicopters based on the Sea Kings is a bit like questioning wheeled transport because of Pintos.
Then again, collisions are another story, aren't they. Human error would be the biggest factor there.

The more boring the university the more easy it is to get the girls into your room to make your own fun.

Only three so far. None to combat.
A Marine CH-46.
British Sea Kings.
Both of these type have been around for a long time. First flight for the SH-3 (Sea King) was 1959.
First flight for the CH-46 was Aug. 1959.
I think its time to retired both types.

Nothing unusual here, accidents kill and destroy more
aircraft and crew than the enemy in most conflicts.
(WW1, WW2 fer sure)
