thinking of buying PtW but need to know first
Hi All,
Need your input..
I'm considering buying PtW but I'd like to know if you can play multiplayer cooperative. This is the only way I'd buy it. I assume you can play against each other to dominate the world, but my biggest joy comes from beating ai with the help of friends. So we're talking 2 players vs any number of ai. I surfed multiple websites looking for this info but I didn't see anything obvious. Any info would be much appreciated.

You can do it but it's not supported in any way.
I wouldn't buy PtW for multiplayer.

It is normal for players to form alliances and or play 2x2 games at the CIV3PTW League.

here's part of a review i read...
'the central purpose of the game multiplayer support - doesn't work, and the rest is largely junk.'
they say it's not worth $3. no surprise here. i think civ iii was a let down. it could have been/should have been so much more.

What review was this ?
Initially that might have been partially true but now that some patches have been issued that is not a fair review.

I gather you have an Age of Kings sort of "alliance victory" in mind. Civ3/PTW does not allow for such joint scoring. Each civilisation gets only an individual score so only one individual civ can "win".
BTW The hotseat multiplayer works fine, never tried the internet multiplayer though.
