Cinch: It was outlawed for a while during the McCarthy days, but it is not so anymore. There are a number of so-called "communist" parties, perhaps most notably the CPUSA. There are a couple of smaller, splinter groups like the "Worker's World" party and so on. Most of them have Stalinist tendencies, AFAIK.

You might be right... but in Chicago/Illinois, Republicans don't even run in the city... and Democrats usually didn't stand a chance in the burbs... so we had to learn how to actually choose the best candidates, because party affiliation was a joke.
And the one Liber I voted for... Both the Republican and Democrat were pure pond scum, and at least the Liber was funny, and the only one that made any sense... He got 2 percent of the vote... sigh...

So what you are saying is that most Americans are Republicans at heart?

Well I think Ross Perot could have done good things with the economy. If congress would let him- which is doubtful. I imagined a goverment which was actually efficient. I was young and an idealist
I'm not sure what he would have done on foreign affairs. That would have been interesting to say the least.
he probably would have invaded Iraq like Bush. . But not necessarily. He may have seen it was too expensive.

Fiscally responsible, social moderate. What does that make me? One of those extremely rare things nowadays — a registered moderate Republican. My own party doesn't like me, but it doesn't keep them from hitting me up for money.

Every poll I've taken on my political views, I've been dead center, between Socialist/Republican/Democrat/Whatever.
Edit: that is, I've been placed as a Centrist.
In other words, political parties suck. Mark me down for the Banana!

A political map of montana would basically be all Republican except for an island of Democrats in Missoula (the most liberal city in the state). Though I don't think the approval ratings for our republican governor could get much lower (in the low 30s with the last poll).
There seems to be a growing sentiment that the Republicans are screwing up the state since they've had control of the government for the past decade and a half.

Fiscal and social conservative.
Unfortunately I live in Canada.
If I were in the US I'd vote Republican.

The same party here has controlled the province for over 30 years straight and has approval ratings in 80s consistently.

Hmm, that's interesting. I never thought of you as a Republican Obi. You are much too wise and peaceful. I thought of you as a religious left-leaner. You Canadians are full of surprises.

If I was ameican I would vote for a Democrat who supported free trade and wasn't too hung up on subsidising every industry in his area.

Dems are pro-abort.
Republicans are pro-life.
That's about all it takes for me to vote Republican.

I'm a former active communist, but now I have the opinion, that all parties without exception consist of 99.9% liars and power greedy jerks. This opinion is not limited to my home country.
Peoples Banana Party for me. All other parties suck.
