Was Apolyton "Down" this afternoon/evening?
I was not able to connect to the site for several hours. Was this an internet problem or was the site down?

I had trouble with the Weather Underground site also and once I could not get to the NYT site so I thought it might be a network problem. After I posted the thread I could not get back on Apolyton for several min.

I also thought it was a network problem because apolyton, www.europa-universalis.com and www.stolemy.com all stopped working around the same time, but only apolyton is up now...

It just took over 3 min to access this thread. I do not think things a back to 100% yet.
I think there is a folk song about this, if I remember it correctly the reframe go's like this:
Oh what do we do with a underpowered Settler, What do we do with a underpowered Settler, at Apolyton early in the morning.
Any body remenber some verses?

It was worse for me; I reinstalled win2k last night, and when I got everything running the first site I wanted to check out was of course this one. You can't imagine my frustration at me not being able to browse 'Poly even though my machine and my router were perfectly configured. It was a good 30 minutes before I thought to try another site, and saw that the problem was with 'Poly not my setup.

I for one was on Apolyton "all the time" last evening, without facing problems, but that might just me my position on Earth... I've still not seen any problems, BTW.

I also faced similar problems regarding the login do you know how bad it is: being at work and not able to logon to Poly. What to do at the office the whole time ?
Poly is really a nice place to be when you're at work, have lots of time and nothing to do.
Thanks to the Operator for given me an opportunity to do something at work.

Well, position on earth, sort of. It's a timezone issue: late afternoon/evening in the US in late evening/night in Europe. I did notice Apolyton was down as well, but not until 01:00 AM or so, so I just went to bed (and when I woke up this morning 'poly was back)

Interesting. I noticed at the time the server was responding to pings, and resolving the IP, which usually would not be the case if 'Poly was temporarily down.
