I don’t think it is a good idea to build the Kirov tank works in a city that has three minefield squares

you can terraform them back to plains, but it takes like 8 times more than from grass or plain to minefield (due to their high movecost)... it CAN be done, though...

Action report Nov 1942
Units of the Belorussian front move north and south trying to link up with the other fronts hitting heavy opposition and loosing units 1 to 1 with the enemy who hold 1 city b/w both fronts.

Yes, I've lost lots of units trying to take them, but I'm sure with winter and assistance from the other fronts that they will fall in the next few turns.

Do not worry about Kiev, it will fall either this turn or the next, for certain. You just worry about keeping your front secure.

Action plan for winter 42/43 Dec
Forwards always forwards as comrade stalin orders.
To be specific this turn the Belorussian front will stick a few sharp metal objects in the lair of the beast (berlin) and see what comes out.

I might suggest caution with the capture of Berlin. If we take Berlin now, the events won't be activated which cripple the German unit making ability. So I think we should clear it out, then take the city when the event becomes active.

Usually the germans lose most of their war waging ability when Berlin falls (as Germany surrenders), won't happen if you take it too early though...

yeah as Henrik said, if you take Berlin and the events work, it will obsolete most of their units and city buildings IIRC.

Waits over
Kiev, Lvov, Neustrelitz, Posdam and Berlin fall to the belorussian troops!
Dresden and Kaunas prove again too difficult to take still in german hands.

The germans are crippled anyway, I don't think there will be any germans left before that event (summer 45) will even apply.

That tech obsoletes most German units.

Could an editor give the Germans the tech when winter 43/44 comes around (assuming we are still playing), or would that be cheating?

I would hardly call it cheating since Nemo would have added it to earlier events files if he had the space, it seems silly to stop advancing to wait for a event to arrive so we can take a city

Action Report: January 1943
A band of partisans probing the defenses of Dresden found that it was virtually undefended save for a petty Volksturm regiment in hedgehog positions throughout the city. They were wiped out with no casualties, and further partisans moved in to occupy Dresden, and hopefully hold it. Upon marching into the city our troops encountered mass starvation, as its defenders managed to burn all its food stocks before retreating.
Leipzig's garrison was only somewhat less pathetic, with a lone division of Panzer IV's, which T-34's from Berlin quickly vested, allowing KV-1 heavies and a division of infantry to move in and fortify. Fortunately Leipzig's food supply was found intact, and will last until summer.
A minor tank raid destroyed a division of German infantry in Bydgoszcz, hopefully speeding NW front's advance and the handover of Neustrelitz to their responsibility.
The month's combat was brought to an end with the more difficult capture of Braunschweig, filled to the brim with unrelenting Waffen SS. Partisans from Berlin were wiped out after eradicating about two thirds of the fanatical SS snipers throughout the city, after which a KV-1 division finished them off. T-34's secured Braunschweig for an upcoming push to Hannover. If the tiny, isolated pockets of resistance we've encountered are any indication, reaching the Rhine should only be a matter of driving there.
Poznan completes Anti-Tank defenses, changes production to Red Army, of which it will complete one division per turn.
Berlin completes Air Force Base, changes to Barracks which will be completed in one turn.
To the Rhine!

A well-deserved month of rest for the men of Belorussian front...
- A pathetic excuse for a counterattack against Braunschweig wiped out; one division of Panzer IV's and a battery of Sdfkz-4x20mm flak guns destroyed.
- One division of Wehrmacht SG infantry on patrol south of Wittenberge annihilated.
- The regiment of Hummels damaged by an attack from 1st Ukranian has been finished off by our partisans.
- Hedgehog positions throughout Prague eradicated in preparation for 1st Ukrainian's coming assault on the Czech capital.

Katyushas grind Hannover.
Unlike the feeble city of Liepzig, Hannover had a fairly substantial defense. It would prove insufficient for our brave soldiers of the Rodina. Protected by an 88, two hedgehogs and a motorised infantry, all fell with the losses of two of our t-35 tanks. Fortunately, one of our green troops cut their teeth on the garrison remnant, allowing our harried Siberian regiment to occupy the city.

You mean Hannover, not Hamburg, right? Hamburg is pretty far away, and that's where my troops are headed.
