I agree with Rothy's post.

. The kid will now seek to make an example out of uber, if they throw the book at uber then the kid will feel that HE is the normal one and that it's acceptable to make advances on other guy's.
|
Good point... Not only will he think that making advances on someone is acceptable, he will think that forcing his advances on someone is exceptable. Definitly a no no.
Azazel: Yes the gay guy touched Uberkrux (god knows why )
I believe both ppl in this case were out of line. What should be done? Krux should go to anger management, since his first reaction to a threatening situation is to sock some one. The other guy should be forced to work in a rape counciling course, so that he can see what type of ends his actions can lead to.
I probably would of done the same thing, so, here's a defense; you are suppose to feel safe on campus, it is a learning environment, not a singles bar... When he grabed your hand and ensured you that you were wrong, and that you were in fact gay, you become scared for your safety and reacted accordingly.
The guy forced himself on you, and you prevented yourself from undo comfort and perhaps further ongoing discomfort if the guy continued to force himself on you. He was definitly more wrong, and is trying to make a fuss out of it to have a flag to wave.
(At least you can be assured that no gay guy will ever hit on you again.)

Well the first thing I would do is get legal advise from somewhere. I think that hitting him though was not such a bright Idea but that is in the past now.
I would do is say the reason you hit him was because he made unwanted sexal advances towards you and got affraid of something along those lines.
The other Student I think went over the line too with grabing your hand when you said no.

stuie... props on that pic
a lil more photoshopping skill to blend, and you got it
anyway, i'm going to talk to some lawyers on wednesday, and i have class again with him on friday. fun fun fun.
there were several witnesses, but none of them were looking directly at us at the time, a couple of kids were talking to the professor about their scores on a recent paper. i'm not sure if they saw his advance, put i'm sure they saw my punch. I'll have to go and ask them exactly what they remember.
My Methods of Reasoning professor is going to have a feild day with this. not only the issue at hand, but the eye witness stuff. we just covered material on "constructed perception", how an eye witness can be made to believe they saw something they didn't. fun fun fun.
re: being a homophobe might mean i'm gay: no. i have honestly questioned my own sexuality a year ago, and i'm not gay. I have never expirimiented or anything (gay OR straight), so i have no physical proof, but after 9/11/01 i did some major soul searching, and thats one of the things i covered. i'm fairly sure i'm not gay in any way shape or form.
we'll see what happens on friday.

Faulty logic: No, it just means that deep down white racists are threatened by black people in some way. Similarly, homophobes sometimes feel threatened by homosexuals. Some of them feel threatened because they feel tempted (maybe even subconsciously), and they know it's a sin.
I'm not saying all homophobes are gay (many of them are just plain morons), but a good portion of them are, or at least bi/bi-curious and don't want to admit it.

I hope at least that you are able to grow from this situation, and not resort immediatly to childish defense mechanisms. As a child, someone makes fun of you or something, often the instinct is to hit them to make it stop. As an adult, you should be able to realize that your actions will have consequences, and therefore should think before acting.

err Uber, why did you punch him in the face....?
sure he took liberties, grabbing your hand and saying "are you sure? " but you shouldn't have done that.
the whole thing is kind of funny though
I hope you don't get into too much trouble for that, but IMHO you should check those tendencies of yours (the violent tendencies)

That would also be pretty funny.
All I'm saying is, from what you described on this forum about you and your friends, it wouldn't surprise me if they got this guy to ask you out and now won't talk about it since you took it a little too far.

Safe side: admit your guilt, say your sorry, and make sure you get you apolgy from him too.
Unfortunatly, in the end this gay guy won... he got you to bend over ... it's your only hope.

BTW I'm amazed at all this fuzz...
I mean what does the University has to do with any of this?
You are adults. IMO you should be under the juristiction of the law.
The law (here) says: if he presses charges on you, THEN you're in trouble. Unless the prosecutor decides to self-automatically press charges for him. But over this? Please...
Did HE press charges against you? Or did the University do?
I can't believe you'll get a penal record for this
I mean you could, but I simply don't think it's fair you get a stigma on your record for something like this.
If HE was the one that pressed charges, punch him again
(not really)

I don't speak for all Greeks
Just my opinion.
If he was the one to press charges, it's lame IMHO.
There can be a double realization.
1) You don't go grabbing people's parts
2) You don't punch people in the face for something like this.
(random numerical order)
Without "law enforcement agencies becoming involved" pl-eeeez

universities in america like to think they are more important than they really are...
besides providing education, sex, and various fun consumables, what good are they?

I was speaking more about their "special" juristiction. I think the state's laws are more than apt to handle cases like this.
However the important question IMO is who pressed the charges.

MRT: you forgot their most important function: Research.
this of course, is not done in some rag tag "colleges", but only in respectable academic institutions, so you wouldn't know about it.

That's what I think. Or that it was to make a political point. The fact is that I can't think of anyone doing this in public because they really wanted to go out with someone. If I was gay, I'd try pretty hard to work out whether the object of my affections was also gay, before I tried anything.
There aren't many people who will just go up and ask virtual strangers on a date.

We're grasping at straws here (is that the expression?) but I also think it was a tease...
that went badly for the teaser (which is good)
but which will get Uber ****ed. (which makes the teaser the winner eventually)
