Anything west of Demyansk and Kalinin is being left to the Nazis. I'm making my hold out there, it's the only logically place for my front anyway. Too far west, and I get overrun, too far east, they never get to me PLUS they cut off leningrad and murmansk. Not good

FiGu's plan is too optomistic, especially since we have so many house rules.
Colwyn's belief is death for us, losing sevestopol, seramofovich, stalingrad and other cities on the Don let's the germans loose in our rear and we wouldn't be able to recover

Whoops maybe I should clarify the green line is where I think the main german units will contest, but not likely taking our cities.
I have found on occasion Rostov and Leningrad difficult to hold. Though with a few KV1's it should be ok if we can get them in during winter.
I should have made the green line a tad more to the left in some area's, sorry.

Speaking of which, are we making a rush to get KV-1s? Because if not, we're in deep trouble....

We'd better be rushing to KV-1's. In my earlier RF attempts, I didnt realize how key they were and got seriously overrun, trying to defend with T34s and Red Guards.
In my current game, I followed Xin Yu's advice - set science at maximum, turn a lot of workers into scientists all across the board save in the Caucasus, and keep things like this until I have Propellants and the MWIII tech that gives KV-1s. I had them by August, and as a result I have held Rostov and Leningrad. I probably could have held Smolensk if I had had the guts to move all of Moscow's units there, too.
Some of Xin's methods seem to violate the spirit of the scenario, obviously, but on this point, his advice seems very sound.

once we have kv1 we should change the tax rate, with three AA battery and 3 kv1 we can hold every city until winter
I think we will hold Rostov and Leningrad
Figu,
did you ever actually had that defensive line?
I see Stalino, Kharkov, Daugavipils, Kiew...
i think it is imposible to hold that

actually, it isnt that hard to hold it.
you only have to make a defensive line in the river of dnepr. i held that line until 1942 Summer, but after that i launched a counter attack and captured berlin in the end of 1944. ¨
[EDIT] Ooops!! it is supposed to be 1944

were you playing with the rules we have here??
playing with the uk airlift and pillaging some fortresses i've conquered warsaw in january 1943 and I think i´ll be able to conquer berlin before the winter ends, but with our rules it is way harder

We are rushing to get KV-1s and will have them by the start of next turn. When I'll be pumping up the tax rate close to max so we can rush-build them across the frontlines en-masse. At least that's the plan...

Can Vitebsk Hold?
Comrades Im beginning to wonder about the wisdom of holding Vitebsk/ Smoelensk in the short term. Vitebsk defenses are minimal and the Facist Pigs are right outsdie to the NW.
Maybe we should consider stripping Vitebsk and send the units to Smoelensk and try to hold them off there?
Or send the assets to the Urals and build up for a glorious offensive to retake the city next year?
See the attached image. It is right after the Marshalls Turn and before the Belorussian turn. (Where comrade Pavlov recaptured Minsk.
Thoughts ?

What about Smolensk?
Can Smolensk hold? Or are we better off to fall back on Moscow?
Note Bryansk has two non veteran Red Armies and Gomel has no units at the end of the Marshalls turn. (Phase 1)
Comments?
Here is the current status of Smolensk posted below:

I'd say fall all the way back to kaluga and hold there. That's safe IMO.
