they could request aid in the form of military/trade intervention or money to carry out there agendas.

Air power needs to be fixed. Bombing should be able to destroy ships, and bombers should be able to have escorts (I have a zillion f-15's, but no way of helping my bombers from getting slaughtered).

Why are ships so damn slow? I can take a railway across the continent in one year, but it takes me twenty years to get a ship to Australia? Uh, no.

I was thinking that geography should affect happiness. Who do you think is happier due to thier weather, Californians or Swedes? Russians or Greeks?

The AI needs to be fixed so that it's not just trying to constantly screw the player, and is more realistic in it's own gains. Everytime I play 16 teams everyone else just sits on their ass and trades with each other, then freezes me out. WTF? If the game needs to be hard then there are other ways of doing it.

The UN needs to be expanded. I know we're not big fans of it right now but it is a VERY important piece of the international political world.

After all this though, I LOVE Civ3. It's my favourite game by far.

hi ,

the option " control the skies " on your F-15's clearly reflects the protection of your bombers , .....

have a nice day

Does it really cover that far? Huh... doesn't seem to work for me. Well, we'll try it again and see.

Another thing:

I want to be able to COMPLETELY turn off warnings about pollution and disorder. When you've got 50+ cities it takes FOREVER to wait for the computer to show every single one going into disorder due to fighting too long (wah, poor babies).

F-15's/Jet Fighters have the same range as Bombers, but Air Superiority only works on the inner half of the 6 tile range, so if you're bombing a city on the outer half and trying to protect with a fighter based on the same city/Carrier, you'll need another strategically placed fighter (if possible) to cover it.

Djafrot:

The best way to protect your bombers is to send in fighters first on bombing missions the enemy fighters wll intercept your fighters instead of your bombers (I have also modded the attack and defense values of fighters (fighters are now 5/4 and jet fighters are 10/8 and F-15's are 12/10)

Why are so many cities in disorder? and I only get about 3 pollution notices per turn, unless you are launching nukes everywhere. If disorder gets too bad you can always create a period of anarchy to transition to a communist or monarcy gov. To keep your people happy, or at least out of disorder, then use your governor to control their mood.

dammit! i just got sucked into the railway (mass?) debate

in a year even the most woefully inefficiant railway can go round the earth several times

and so can modern ships

but CIV3 is not a simulation but unlimited rail movement does give the defender too much of an advantage, it would be better if units were barred from fighting on the turn they use rail move

and ships moving at snails pace kinda defeats the purpose of sea power, it would be better if an area movement system for ships was adopted insread of squares

hi ,

héheh

anyway , the main point is that railroad movement should be limited indeed , lets say 15 spaces max and barred from attacking on that turn would indeed be the best solution , ......

as for the naval units , they are fine as it is , .....

a nuclear sub and aegis cruiser should be able to load only cruiserockets ( the loading should be different ) next to regualr tactical nukes for the nuke sub , something like this ; load tactical nuke [ window with amount ] , load other missile [ window with amount ]

the next that should change is to be able to load helicopters that can be used in sub warfare , a lesser load for the landing craft and two types of landing craft or a limit on the types of units it can load , lets say max 2 tanks and 2 infantry , or 3 mech infantry and one regular artillery , etc , ......

have a nice day

What irks me is when far away Civs declare war. Even though they have no chance in hell of attacking you, your war weariness increases regardless. What should happen is after 20 turns without combat, the countries involved should enter a 'cold war' and war weariness goes back to zero.

hi ,

it depend what form of gov you have , what you have build , what lux you have , .......

faraway wars make people happy , and normally the AI signs a peace deal after 20 turns , ..... and if the AI started this then you have a good chance to get something extra out of it , ....

have a nice day

Example- Playing on monarch as the Ottomans under a Republic. The Russians declare war on me. The problem is, everyone still has galleys and I risked several to cross to sea squares to find them. Noone has Navigation yet. It was been more than 20 turns, without a single instance of combat. Why on Earth would my people be upset by a war that isn't even occuring? That plain sucks.

Is that really a problem? In most games a civ is willing to make peace with me after the minimum 5 turns they have to wait, and if they don't I enter into alliances to wipe them off the map.

I'm pissed too
About your complaints, I also have a few.
*Why the hell did Firaxis remove poisoning water supply in espionage?

*I like many others also want fundamentalism.

*Please restore the effects of some wonders, particularly Great Wall and Seti to their Civ2 effects.

*Take away that 4 turn research cap!!

*I noticed that even with an expansionist race and a custom map with 100 goody huts, not a single one of them were advanced tribes! Perhaps the goody huts giving you maps replaced that?!

*Please make embassies with other races also show you what techs they already know (like in civ2)

*I personally believe that the graphics take up too much time in the game. When I used to play civ2, I had a 750 Mhz computer and I could easily finish a game within 5 hours. But now in civ3 with all animations off, my games still take at least 8 hours on a standard world. And this is with a new Pentium4 1.8 Ghz!
I prefer less advanced graphics and quicker speed.

*What happened to the glacier terrain?
Why can't we irrigate hills anymore (like civ2)? We could imagine them as steppes.
Why can't we irrigate tundra (like civ2)?
I'd appreciate it if the oasis resource appeared again in the deserts (like in civ2).

*There should also be score calculated for building Great Wonders. Seeing that you can't speed up process with caravans and that you can only use a leader, the wonders are significantly harder to build.

*I WANT WONDERS MOVIES TOO!

*The barbarian theme in civ3 is dumb. In civ2 the barbarian leader when captured gave you at least 200 gold. Now, all the barbarian huts only have a measly 25! Why can't the barbarians upgrade slowly throughout time making them harder to kill? And with the upgraded barbarians, like barbarian swordsmen and galleons, the barbarian huts should offer more and more gold, like 50, 75 or 100.

*I'd appreciate it if Firaxis focused less on the race portraits so that you could pick the gender for your race leader. With PTW there are only 5 female leaders out of 24 races. By including a still picture, it would cause creativity and mystery within the player. I also think the looks on the peoples' faces are childish or constipated at times!

*Could the theme of spontaneously upgrading the palace be EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL NEXT TIME?

*Some concepts for certain buildings should also be reintroduced. Like in civ2, a courthouse makes one content citizen happy under democracy and cathedral's effect reduces by one citizen after discovery of communism.

*Can Firaxis please make it so when an enemy capital is in civil disorder, by making it get taken over, a new race appears (like in civ2)?

Hell, if Firaxis is ever making Civ4, they better spend more time on it fixing all the complaints and problems!

Embasies are closed in times of war. What other time would you need them closed?

hi ,

no , are they closed in war , ....

that everyone knows , but we should have that option , building an embassy gives you some level of intel , and some options , now think a bit to the real world , sometimes a country has no embassy because the two countries are angry at each other , .....

it would also mean that you dont like that civ , you have communications , but you or the other civ shall not go in to a pact , or a trade embargo , etc , ....

for every reason there is to build one , there is one to close it , .....

have a nice day
