Because it is much easier to play at 1.2 with the over powered plasma cannon and gyro and dirt cheap Creative. Beside the patch is only 6 or 7 years old, not enough time to upgrade.

I don't have the 1.2 so if we play at that level we'll either need to post the patch or be incredibly descriptive every few turns. Plus, the only presidents would be people who could run it, if I understand correctly. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I wouldn't mind taking a shot to be el dictator extremo.

You would have to have a very old CD to not have 1.2.
1.31 was never put on a CD. I use to have 1.0, but I do not find in among my three copies.

So where would you get the 1.31 patch? I have no problem playing with either version personally.

I got it when it first came out but I'd be foolhardy to bet against you when it comes to MOO as you truly seem to be the master. I'll have to check it out and make sure I'm up to par. There seems to be enough initial interest in a DG; should we ask one of the mods to put a blurb on the news page?

I also would be interested in a MOO 2 democracy game. Just an average player here however - and only played it a couple of times in the last year.

Actually, if we go the demo game route, the “player” aka president can play on whatever version (for the term of office). After the new election, the game transfers to the next president, so the new player should have the same or later version. So I’d expect that after a bit, the president will de facto be playing on version 1.31. There might be some awkwardness between versions and playing from the saves of an older version, but I don’t know that.
And if we go the straight demo route, complete with screen shots, the other advisors, may not even have to upload the game to post polls, and offer advice etc.

I have never participated in any demo games. I really don't know how they work. If you are in need of a player in order to play, then I would be willing to play. Otherwise I will just follow along and enjoy all the reports.
The big problem for me now is I can not get Moo2 to work on my new rig. I have to play on my other system and it is not connected to the web.
I have done that for some MIght and Magic games, so it could be done, but is a pain.

You don't have to be able to play the game to join a Democracy game, you just have to be interested in posting comments and following along.

I suggest that we play on 1.31 - anyone who has older version can download and install the patch, in opposite if anyone has 1.31 there is no way to downgrade it. 1.31 is the most ballanced version too.

I don't know but I suppose that the English version will be played. Probably the saved games that will be transferred will be compatible with the other versions too
