Official: What to research after geometry
well, the choices will be the same as before. shipbuilding will presumably be researchable in one turn. if that is the case, it will be the one to research first. if not we will research either masonry or iron working as shipbuilding has been on the list for a long time, never got popular and we still have no ocean in sight.

what other option?
if both my gl-entries and myself are correct, there will only be shipbuilding, masonry and iron working avaiable, unless we get another advance from a goody hut, via diplomacy (very unlikely since we don't know how to build diplomats yet and hence cannot establish embassies and hence cannot make that sophisticated proposals) or the cheat menu

It is my opinion that:

We need to get iron working so that we can get sammies to put presure on austalia. With this preasure we can force them to agree with us. Otherwise they will be more reluctant to talk. Is we've seen in history before military power can make a weak country turn to a strong country. (Germany had weak economy, hitler came, people got scared and started to support its economy with trade)

Once we've finished Geometry the tech tree will give us 3 options, no more, no less: Iron Working, Masonry and Shipbuilding. No hidden options or anything of the sort. The number of options usually decreases near the end of an Age...

Sorry for doubting you BUT you do have two heads and are less than trustworthy on occasions(just ask arthur dent)
In light of our current situ i voted Iron working - we need sharp pointy iron weapons, our pointy sticks wont be so usefull anymore

Didn’t doubt you for a second Zaphod. There’s just a lot of turns before we get to choose the next advance, and like Maq said, we could stumble onto a ruin...

If we don’t. I’m all for sticking Iron bits into our enemies.
