All Rock stuff:
The White Stripes - "the same boy I've always known", "fell in love with a girl" or anything from their new album "Elephant" (only just out, haven't got it yet, so can't give you songs )
Idlewild - "In Remote Part/Scottish Fiction" ("You Held the World in Your Arms" or anything from "100 Broken Windows" if you prefer a little rockier stuff)
The Music - "The People"
Radiohead - "True Love Waits"
Placebo - "Spite and Malice" or "Special K"

No way. Early stuff is a little rustic, but it's great rock.
What kinda stuff you like EIF?

honestly, I don't know how you people can like rock music... how can you beat the non-chalant charisma of Mos Def, the tongue-twisting rhymes of Nas, the smooth jazz/soul production of D'Angelo, the philosophical intelligence of Killah Priest?
Rap and RnB are vastly superior to any other form of music in my opinion
thanks

Whether music is good or not should be determined by how good it is when you're in an altered state of mind. Now typical rock scores real low. So I agree with Speer.
But thats just IMO.

How can you beat the Charisma/Stage Presence of the RHCP, the plays on words and hauntingly beautiful lyrics of Spiritualized, the smooth melodies and progressions of Coldplay, and the philosophical nature and intelligence of Idlewild.
How can people like music without a melody, made up of samples and spoken word. Poetry is great, but it's not music. (talking about rap, I like RnB)

Both statements are closed-minded. I bet either side would not try rock/rap even if it was performed well, with high talents.

Mine was tongue in cheek. I was trying top point out that the same could be said about any genre. Should've included a at the end
I have no problem with rap, there are some I like.

Spiritualized - "Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space" or "Anything More" (I know it's hardly rock, but it's good )

At the parties I go to they never play techno, just hip hop. All hip hop becomes a grinding song regardless of whether it's supposed to be or not.
Some good songs you don't know from musicians you do know:
Matchbox 20 - Rest Stop
Fuel - Last Time
Eminem - Love Me
50 Cent - Don't Push Me
Lifehouse - Everything

You picked one of the few Matchbox 20 songs I don't like. Personally, I prefer Last Beautiful Girl, Leave, or You Won't be Mine (the only song I learned to play on Piano ). But hey, good band, not that much of them over here though
