And yet... somehow less suitable as well. The 3.5" disk is clearly a technological upgrade over the 5.25" (smaller size, more storage). Despite this, most of us would prefer to have a 5 1/4" floppy as opposed to a 3 1/2" stiffie.

Which term is more suitable?

"Stiffies" makes more sense. "Floppies" are the old bendable things that dissapeared years ago in modern computers. I just call the newer 3.5's "mini disks".

There comes a time to realize that there is a reason for the banana option. It's the way to express dissatisfaction with a candidate who is so generally unqualified as to be unwanted by the Citizens.
This is one of those times. Vote for the banana and spare us all a month of James Adams acting badly as our Foreign Minister. Give the new President the option to seek anyone who could do a better job than this candidate has done in the past.

If you still have some of those old floppies you can send them to the RUG(university of Gent) here there are still computers without harddrive but with 5.25"floppies and touch screen (and it is fun to work with )
Now back on the subject:

Great to hear that the founder of the C2DG finally has MGE!!! That earned my vote (now 10-10).
After all, in the game's first term, what good -- or harm -- can the foreign minister do?

I'll do it then, IF the banana wins!

"Mini disk" is a whole 'nother format, cavebear. Surely you know that.
I believe the term "MiniDisk" is a Sony registered trademark. Violators will be drawn and quartered.
I say, stick with "floppy" since it's a common term and the 5-1/4" format hasn't been used in about a decade.
OK, back on topic -- Vote Human! Vote James Adams!

Regardless of copyright names, that's what everyone I know calls them and that's the name I'll continue to use until general custom changes. And no one I know calls them "floppies".

OK, but I don't want to hear any complaints when the Sony Police show up at your door...

Well it is clear that we will need a HUMAN named Foreign Affairs Minister in case we encounter another civ during term 1. Thus we have two options: the VP does it, or we just give the job to the only person interested: James Adams. There will be (hopefully) some time before we encounter our insignificant others, so I'm going to start a poll to this effect. But first - to ask the VP whether he'd actually mind doing the FAM job for a month.

I suggest we let James Adams take the office. It's the first month, very little to do in this office, and he's interested, so why not let him play...
