Aztec Rush: Ancient Age Gliss
***ATTENTION***
All information here is either of my own creation or may have been stated in an other room, please do not give me complaints about text wrote here.

Ever get tired of playing with those industrial civs, that only allow attacks that are too slow or just nto working? Well, the solution is here, in the mighty Aztecs. I hope that both you and I will enjoy reading this and learning from it, so let us start.

EXPLORE
This is a vital function of the Aztec rush. You will want to make three Jaguar Warriors and and either put them on auto explore or manual move them. You should be looking for specific things. These include trade goods (silks, ivory, grapes ect...), rivers and lakes with useful tiles near them (plains, forest, grasslands), gold sources (hills would be better), and other civilizations. Because the game ahs just started, you will not know where iron or other important resources such as that are. SO you must be patient and save settlers so you can grab those first. I will explain that more in the EXPANSION section.

EXPANSION Expanding your cities has a very important rule in this rush. The key principle is to take away their resources while filling yourself with them. Now, making core cities shoudl be your first goal. Make cities according to what they will be doing. For example, for production, settle on plains and forest with game or grasslands with shields (Note: you will have to irrigate plains to make them useful). For settler construction and growth, you will need to find a grasslands and forest. A third city may be useful for developing gold to support science, for this you will want to find a gold patch or make a road on ever tile being used. After your third city is made, you should have researched iron working or horseback ridding( I will explain in greater detail what technology you will need). Be aggresive when making cities, you will need to place the city either on the good or as close as possible. Even if the city has poor terrain around it, you will send it defence from your core cities. You should consider the strategic placement of cities when you begin attacking the enemy. Often, you will find resource in their territory, and find it hard to defence. A good staratagy would be making a settler, making gaurds such a spearman or warriors, then making the city directly on the resource. Make a wall as soon as you make the city, and you have a very effective defensive postion, and they will not have the resource. For future expansion, try specializing cities for the various needs, other then that, it is YOUR choice.

MILITARY Here is the ultimate goal of the rush, to make a military to invade, harrase, and destroy the enemy economy. This rush is built around the idea that you can cut them off befor they have a chance to make horsemen and swordsman. This can be a difficult goal, and may seem too difficult, but it can be done. After you have made the first three scouting Jaguar Infantry, make your settler and have him develop into a production city or food city depending on your capital. Now, make a barracks in your production city and make the production que to set 5 jaguar warriors plus the one now on production. You should have by now found the enemy civilization(s), immediatly send several jague warriors, 6 would be best. Keep a jaguar warrior around the enemy city to keep tabs on whether he has a spearman or warrior defending. If you rech his city, always attack from the position where you can move and then attack (This is typicly on the northern, eastern, souther, western tip). If a warrior is defending, you can safely assume that at the most he has two, as most players do, or he may have one. Your 6 jaguars warriors will have a good chance of beating his two warrior. If you took the city, round up any workers that may be around the city befor he can delete them. Use the workers for making colonies to resources or making new roads. If you're attack is failing, give it up, and steal any workers and pillage terrain outside the city. If you found a spearman inside the city, do not attempt to defeat him with your 6 jaguar warriors. Take them, and pillage his infrastructure. Steal workers, and fortify on key terrian, if he has other, small cities, send jaguars warriors to them and see if they have any defence. The uses of Jaguar Warriors go beyond the initial rush, they are extremly effective at stealing workers and harrasing his economy and fortifying on resources. If you are still having problems with enemt civilizations, consider making either horsemen or swordsman. Future military actions will be considerable easy if you have completely cut them off from their iron and horses.

WORKER PLACEMENT Workers serve two main roles in this rush: roads and city growth. Making 3 workers early in the game to make your road quickly is extremly important for quickly being able to engulf the enemy with units. When making your roads, keep in mind not to build across rivers unless you absolutely must. Workers that are captured will serve very well to bulk your cities to improve your economy. Always be on the look for enemy workers, losing a jaguar warrior to for a worker is a good investment.

SCIENCE The technologies you must research in the ancient age will be either iron working or horseback riding. Either works, but, swords can more realiably take cities, while horsemen can reach the enemy faster.
After research either one of those technologies, move toward construction. This will help greatly to fortify their resources againt enemy attack. After construction, where you go is your choice.

Thank you for reading my post, please send any comments or question that you feel needed.

Ronald, Horsemen are an extremely good complement to JWs. Also, enemy workers should probably not be joined to your towns / cities until much later, as 1) they are free and 2) they create a small chance of CFing.
