X-com
Is there anywhere that I can get this game. I've searched bargain bin and the internet and am unable to find it.

I wish I had bought it years ago when I had the chance, everybody says that it is awesome.

ACK!

Underdogs has the second one. They're practically the same game.

I had the first but accidently threw the disks away last year. I have not seen the first on the net recently.

Thank you. Now I just need the first one.

Oh, and I can't use this because we don't do abandonware or warez here.

Does XCom 1 work though. For my (bought years ago) version, it has copy protection.

I have the first and second one but my comp. is too fast. I used to try and mess with mo-slo but I gave that up.

Now, I'm hoping I can get my parents' old comp. I'm pretty sure it's slow enough that it'll run fine.

There are several versions of X-COM. The one that came on floppy disks has copy protection, but the version that came out on CD-ROM does not. I got the CD version in a bargain bin. I had no clue what it was but it looked cool. It turned out to be the best $3 I ever spent.

Both these versions run too fast on modern computers, and both are a bit buggy. However, there was a bonus CD that came out with some computer game magazine that included a version designed to run on modern computers. It also seems less buggy; this is the version you want to get.

Looks like you officially can't.

Perhaps there's a hidden link?

While generally true, the "floppy disk" version also comes on cd, and that is the version I have got.

What magazine if you can remember? That seems interesting. Very interesting.

Sorry, I don´t know the name of the magazine or where to get that version. Someone e-mailed it to me a while ago. I also saw it mentioned on a FAQ on an x-com web site, they said that they don´t give out copies and to order a back issue of the magazine.

It does. But what should I do when I slow the computer down 99% and it is still too fast?

Unfortunately, even though the electronics can hold out, the mechanical parts usually fail by now.

The name of the magazine was PCGamer and they did a retro disk about 2 years ago. It had, iirc, a bunch of old games including the Bards Tale series, a couple of Ultimas, etc.

I had a sweet dream about a sort of MP modification the orginal X-COM. Am I normal or should I ask for help? Or maybe you're the wrong crowd to ask that question?

There is a multiplayer XCom based game of sorts. It is a squad versus squad combat mission where you don't get to choose what your soldiers are armed with, and the weapon accuracy is a little off (my soldier missed 5 shots in a row 1 square away from an enemy), but it is still fun. Grenades own.

It is called XCom 2000 or something similar (iirc).
