if you really want "tradition"... why don't you advocate that we go back to the old system. Just two leagues, and just two champions

I wouldn't mind it. I wouldn't even mind the 4 divisions, no wild card format that was done pre-1994. I think with 30 (I'd make it 28) teams you'd need 4 divisions at least though, just to prevent things from becoming too unwieldy. Tradition can evolve, if the changes make sense (and the DH and interleague don't make sense... the WC might however, but I still don't like it
).
The way it is done now is a travesty. If you really are serious about interleague play you CAN'T do it in the half-assed way it is done now. Get rid of this Mets and Yanks have to play every year BS, and rotate divisions and make every team in a division play against every team than any other team in the division would have to play against. And get rid of this 2 weeks of interleague, then back to normal crap too.
Hell, I'd be less against interleague if it were done with any sanity.
Btw, since you don't think tradition has survived in baseball, how about having just 6 divisions, no AL or NL and have the top 8 teams battle it out in a playoff. Would you back that?
