The game crashed in 2040.
But I won't win anyway.
OCC is not my favorite type of game, but at least it was fast: 2.5 h.

Hi everybody...
So I decided to give it a try and you can abandon your capitol. So now my plan is to build up several settlers sail on over to the other continent, build a city, add all the settlers back into the city so it's nice and big right away and beat down on the AI some. This should be fun.

What an interesting game! I'm amazed there's so much unsettled land on the other continent in 1570 AD. Can't wait to see your reports on how this one turns out. Gotta be careful, though or England, Rome and the Celts will begin colonizing the continent you are leaving.

Hi everybody...
Actually there's a lot of unsettled land over there because I've been keeping everyone busy with war. When the Celts decided to declare war on me I went over and razed some cities which helped clear some land. I'm probably gonna have to have another war to make some room for my city relocation.
But right now I'm finishing up 207. Then I'm gonna knock this bad boy off and see if I can do it.

Sssshhhh!!! They might hear you.
No, I actually plan on making about 4 or 5 settlers and so I can't put them all on the same galley. I actually hadn't thought of that. Yep, that'd suck.

Hi everybody...
Well I decided to play some of 302 this morning. It goes quick and I'll probably get it done soon.
So it's already 1700AD and I just got Education. Also the English declared war on me which gave me the opertunity I needed to move in and clear some land. As you can seen in the screenshot I found okay land with access to both horses and iron. Both key for making my knights. Also there's saltpeter right there for my cavalry eventually. I've got 3 settlers on the way with a whole bunch of workers. I'm gonna be size 12 real fast. Then it's just a matter of spitting out knights for my global conquest.

Hi everybody...
OCC is slow going when you're constantly at war. But it's a challenge to. I just entered the industrial age about 5 turns ago. And it's 2023!
Well I moved my capitol over to the other continent okay. Of course I forgot that I didn't have the Great Lighthouse anymore and lost a few galleys at the end. Luckily I had already sent over my settlers. I mostly lost workers which I have more than enough of now.
I just killed off the English. Took the Celts out a long time ago now. I keep getting leaders but don't really have much to do with them. I can't build armies. So I rushed Sisten, Smith's and the Military Academy(I was hoping to be able to build armies). Also I've rushed 2 cavalry units. I know, kind of a waste but I really don't need many of the city improvements and I'm losing units quick.
Rome is being a pain in the butt. They are able to put out a lot of cavalry. And I have to take them soon because nationalism is coming up. I have it now and I'm hoping to keep Rome at war so they research nice and slow.
I have to hurry or I'm not gonna win. Honestly I don't think I have enough time. Only 27 more turns. But I'm gonna give it a shot. I know for a fact I would never have been able to get even this far on warlord. Trying an OCC conquest is hard. Plus, I'm still a warmonger in training. I'm sure Arrian or someone could do better.

Hi everybody...
Well so much for that idea. I just couldn't keep up with Rome's production potential. Only having one city to produce units in hurt. Oh well, it was fun. The RNG was good to me at the end. My lone rifleman took out 3 cavalry before dying. Too bad my 30+ slaves couldn't attack. I dont' see anything wrong with slapping some explosives on them and hurdling them at the enemy cavalry. It's only a game after all.

Hi everybody...
I learned some from this last game. I think I could have done better if I focused more on military units early. I built way too much unnecessary stuff. For instance, in Dorksbach I had Pyramid, HG, Colossus, GL, GL, Oracle, Great Wall, Sun Tzu, Leo's. I also had all the building except the courthouse. If instead I'd built more swordsmen and later medieval infantry and sent them over to the other continent earlier I probably would have been more sucessful.
Of course I didn't have the idea of moving my capitol until after Korea and India were destroyed. I know for a fact that it would have been nearly impossible to take out the Celts and England if I hadn't moved. The transit time would have killed me. Also haiving to depend on trade for my horses and saltpeter would have not been good.
Oh well. In the end I was known as Bismark the worthless. But I don't feel worthless. I learned and had fun what more can you ask for from Civ3? One thing I found kind of amusing. In the end my F11 stats showed I was #1 in life expectancy. 20 years old. Yep, I'd be dead already in my Germany. Kind of sad.

Very original take on OCC BigD! I was kind of hoping the last civ would put up a good fight against you, but I was always rooting for you to prevail.
I would imagine the Armies thing is kind of annoying. It would be kind of cool if you could trade Great Leaders to other civs for huge amounts ("I'll trade you my Napoleon for Industrialization...").
Care to try once more BigD, peacefully this time? OCC is supposed to help with your trading/builder skills, not your warmonger ones!

You need a minimum number of cities per Army.

I chose Babylon... it felt obvious to me. I settled one square east of the wheat, and my first worker job was to irrigate the starting square. I built a temple first, and then warriors to explore.
I was amazmed at the speed with which my city grew, and how productive it quickly became. Off the top of my head, I built wonder after wonder, improvment after improvment, and warriors and bowmen in one turn each.
After discovering the wealth of luxury in the homeland, I knew that colonies and trade were the way to go. I built dozens of units, with the goal being to surround the land, to prevent settlers landing by ship.
I fought two big wars, one allied with India against Korea, and another against Korea. I used these wars to raze all of the cities on MY continent, and began the process of filling in all of the coast with units...
I managed to stay even or ahead in tech, and got almost every wonder I set my sights on. In the middle of the Middle Ages AI cities started catching up in production, and managed to steal Shakespeare's from me. GRRRR. The only time I've EVER tried to build it.
I lost in the early industrial agefor a stupid reason... in my rush to block of my contient I left Babylon without a garrison... I was in democracy and all 12 of my people were incredibly happy... I had trade with almost everyone, and.... Rome dropped a spear on my shore and walked right into Babylon. No delcaration of war, no warning... I had trade deals with them even....
I plan to play again... I'll probably pick Babs again and the same starting square... the mix between fresh water, ocean, lots of productive tiles, and COAL and IRON is unbeatable.
By the way... my iron source within the city radius depleted six turns before I discovered coal in the radius. This was infuriating...
OCC was never something I'd have otherwise tried, but I enjoyed myself and feel I learned about city managment and diplomacy. Good game, guys!
EDIT: I called Rome Spain for some reason. That's what I get for waiting a week and doing an AAR from memory.

Now that was an amazing attempt at OCC. Of course Rome is a conquerer at heart and always has loads of units at the ready for battle, but I was hoping you would be able to pull it off. I was completely surprised you were able to absolutely destroy 4 civs, and you certainly kept the research very slow.
Wait, what level did you say you were playing? Below warlord? Ohhh, now it makes sense. I would love to see someone take on regent or monarch and win OCC by conquest.
Fosse: That reminds me, funny how in OCC Shakespeare's becomes one of the best wonders to have, whereas I rarely decide to build it in regular civ games

Don't feel too bad Corpus, that's how I lost AU207. I thought since everyone was polite with me except Japan and the Vikings I'd get the votes but was wrong. Had I known everyone was gonna vote for Wang I would have had everyone go to war against him. But I also just wanted to see if I could pull of a diplomatic win without any bribes or anything. That was my first and probably last try at winning with UN.

I'll give anyone a huge pat on the back if they can do it on regent or monarch. I think using what I learned I might be able to pull it off if I tried it again on chieftain. Looking back I can see where I could improve.
However it was a ton of fun. Especially in the end where I was racing against the clock to take everyone out before 2050. And only being able to turn out cavalry every 4 turns or so didn't help. I was using my money to rush them so I was getting them a wee bit quicker than that until the gold ran out. But it didn't matter. I just couldn't keep up with the Romans.
If any of you ever try it this is probably my biggest piece of advice would have to be don't be afraid to abuse a RoP or two. I say if you can pull off the Arrian deception against the Indians or Koreans do it. And then I say do it again later on. If I hadn't been so worried about breaking a RoP earlier I could have cut Romes saltpeter and horses a lot earlier and made my life a lot more simple. And it's not like everyone didn't hate me anyways.

Hi everybody...
Well I decided to give it one last go at 302 like Dom suggested. I considered my Ottoman game a lost cause and decided to give it a go with the Babs.
Things are going okay I suppose. I just entered the middle ages not too long ago. I'm currently right up there in techs but know I'm gonna fall behind sooner or later. I'm in super builder mode and currently only have 1 spearman and 1 med. infantry. And because I'm so weak militarily the Celts think they can bully me around. Not a big deal though. What's he gonna do, sail his army over in galleys?
So far I've got the Colossus, GL, and GL. I missed a whole bunch of wonders that were built before I even had contact with the other continent. I hate that. This is a far cry from chieftain where I had almost all the wonders.
