Unofficial: Winning and Related Topics.
since i'm not the DoFA, i can't exactly organise the official poll for this, but whatever. it's not only about winning
Question 1: Shall we win by diplomatic victory ASAP?Question 2: Should we start another ACDG?- Yes, I'd play again
- no, i wouldn't play again
Question 3: if yes, what type?

Regular (all as one faction, like this one)
Teams in PBEM style like the Civ3: PTW DG
Teams in some other MP format
I already told you, I DON'T WANT TO PLAY AGAIN!
since this is an unofficial poll, i don't have to have an expiry date. might as well just let it run i suppose.

.....ColdWizard, since when were you any part of the SMACDG?
EDIT: BTW TKG, seeing as I'm on 56k for the weekend, is there any chance you or someone else could post up an unofficial poll on peoples preferences Re: SMAC/SMAX, and on which factions they'd prefer for both Standard and Team DG games?

I don't see the point. We won't be able to bribe them into voting for us, and in order to win we should be able to do it alone.

I don't think I'll be able to participate in a PBEM version of the game, at least in the beginning

anyways, this seems like the appropriate place to post this ATM....
what does everyone think of archiving this entire forum once we start our new game? on the one hand, we wouldn't have so much clutter or old threads in the way, but then again, we couldn't bump old threads or keep old conversations going in, say, the CCCP thread for example. and did they do this with the old C2DGs?

They haven't done it (yet, anyway) with the Civ III DG.
And just a suggestion regarding what format - would it be feasible to do a PBEM DG and a regular one?

I would think no to doing both, it would be hard to keep track of, much work, and people will get confused between the two, IMHO. However, I am all for archiving. We can create a new CCCP thread, and such like, and it will be a chance to start a fresh, which would also be good for people coming in new, and not knowing the old DG.

Re Two games in parallel. I am open minded on this. It would be a lot of work.
The regular DG could act as a central meeting place because with the team DG most of the discussion would be in private groups, maybe even different chat sites. The regular DG could also act as a recruiting ground for new players.
Even if we only play team SMAXDG surely there will the need for a neutral/ gossipy venue to lend some sense of cohesion. Also a neutral place to advise and inform new recruits about the situation. I see a big role here for our media outlets.
Re Archiving. There is a tremendous amount of good stuff there and some great discussions but not all of it needs archived.
I mean we don't need to archive all the polls or turnchat logs or Gov orders.

Two games in parallel... I know I'd only be able to participate in one... and the PBEM one would be easier to participate in.

I kinda doubt it... but it might if too many people got lazy and just let one person run each show...

well, consider how many people we have now. 15 here said they'd play again. even if we managed to get 15 people, there's 7 teams of 2 people (which wouldn't be Demo Game-ish. not by a long shot), or 3 teams of 5. that *might* work, but how good would it be with only 3 teams? also, of those 15 people, how many do you expect to be active?
sure, i'd love to play a PBEM game, i'm just worried about numbers, that's all

Could be worth considering??
