HUTFINDER/RAH Rules.
Bob Smurf asked a question that I think we need to discuss, regarding the use of hutfinder.
Should we adopt RAH rules for our Civ2DG games?
Should we modify these rules? If so, how should we modify them?
Here's a link to the current thread for RAH rules:
http://www.apolyton.com/forums/showt...threadid=77096
I see no reason why we should not go with these rules, especially considering that our president is not under the same time constraints as the MP players.

makes sense to me - most of the proposed off-limits stuff either is unique to multiplay (between turn stuff), or is generally agreed upon as a cheat (looking at the map). if we choose to include all the applicable rules, we will by default ban representative governments from the game (hard to not talk to the AI if the senate keeps forcing you to). given that this is a military game, that may well be a viable restriction, but hasn't been discussed specifically

Dont see the need for rah rules, we've been doing ok in the first two games without them.
Plus 2x production and no citybribe are not good rules for this game. Oh and we'd have to change rules.txt so oracle expires with industrialisation :P:

My biggest concern was with hutfinder and caravan re-homing. What do people think about these?

since we aren't building caravans, the only time we would have caravans would be through bribing, so don't see it as particularly relevant. and i don't see a problem with hutfinder

The only rules relevant to SP are the ones obiwan mentions, plus unsinkable boats/planes.
I agree with SGC re:hut finder & caravans, and of course we won't use the unsinkable boat cheat, or map peeking, or anything like that.

The use of hut finder does not give you any more info than you can get frompen and paper, it just svaes you time.
Rah rules is for MP play and not relevent for this game.

Hutfinder, templates, experience, what is the difference?
If we dont allow the hutfinder we should also disalow an experienced president to use all his civknowledge.
Not a good thing imo.

experience generally translates into skill, the hutfinder removes all effort.
I share H Tower's view:

That is the main point for consideration.
I'm not a big fan of the hutfinder. Sucks some of the fun out of the game.

Nah, just saves you some time, the huts are laid out in a pattern anyway, instead of figuring out the pattern you just type in the coordinates.

Not a fan of Hutfinder, but -- whatever.
Rah Rules make no sense in this world. Let's just agree on our limits -- like no caravan re-homing, no airfield defense perimeter.
More relevant is the Cheats article compiled by Ming and listed in the Great Library.
Did someone say we're doing this without camels??? Why?
And what other limits did we place on ourselves?

Why? Because we chose to. And we decided to avoid building Wonders, and to win a military victory. You must have skipped the forums that week.

I linked to the Rah rules thread because it has several links to other threads, including Ming's cheat thread.
