And in an attempt to bring "fair and balanced reporting" to Apolyton, I Googled a site with Clinton's war record. Enjoy!

Doing ok when he listens to advisors.
Evidently more to Bush than this sad-sack tells.
WTH though. MarkG. Consistently a butthead.
Go back to the Civ 3 area.

Of course, Clinton was justified in refusing to report for induction.

I was referring to his "I've been to war" line. He has never been in a war, so it is total bullshit. Flying around in a cushy Texas Air National Guard unit in the U.S. is not going to war by any stretch of the imagination.

Come to that, Bush was also justified in getting out of Vietnam any way he could.

Rich people dodged the draft by enlisting in the guard? I thought they usually got deferments. Fancy that!

It's funny the hypocrisy of these matters from conservatives in the government and media. Clinton was attacked for his war record and marijuana usage, yet Dubya was an alcoholic, used cocaine, and dodged the war just the same.

The only reason Clinton didn't do Cocaine is because he didn't have the dough to buy it.

Actually, Bush's dodging of the war is more two-faced than Clinton's, as Clinton was at least consistent with his professed beliefs (he openly opposed the war on moral grounds). Bush was a war supporter and even to this day believes the cause was just (but not necessarily the manner), yet he weaseled out of it, too. So he goes into the Limbaugh/Buchanan/Quayle/Gramm/etc. camp of chickenhawks.

Americans don't get anxious over Social Security, Mark, you think we're going to freak out over a measly $40 billion?

"Hey, look at what Bush did, right here..."
CLINTON! CLINTON CLINTON CLINTON! CLINTON, I TELL YOU! Why? CLINTON! That's why!
Of course, we can't forget the other side of the coin, in some other thread:
"Hey, look at what Clinton did, right here..."
BUSH! BUSH BUSH BUSH BUSH BUSH BUSH BUSH! And I know what you're going to say next, and my answer is BUSH!
Jesus already, people, are those knees jerking hard enough yet? MIGHT IT ACTUALLY BE POSSIBLE THAT THEY'RE BOTH POLITICIANS?

I'm not so sure the US propaganda machine will be that more effective after this little adventure. Good. The world is sick of hypocricy.

Stefu... I agree. And that's my point. If people are going to bash Clinton for something, they should be consistent about it. IMO Clinton is as big a jag-bag as Bush. But Clinton bothered me less because during his presidency, the economy was good and we weren't pissing off a billion Muslims.

My knee jerks less in my advancing years, but it can still kick.
And Sava, I didn't care about Clinton's service record either when it was topical, so why should I care about Bush's?

Bush's shouldn't be relevant. That's my point. As Boris pointed out, Clinton was consistent in his opinion of war. Bush OTOH is not. I'm attacking his hypocritical Hawkish stance rather than his war record. In fact, all things being equal, I'd applaud Bush for finding a way out of that unjust fool's errand known as Vietnam.
