Since you are back, you should probably have that rash checked out.

Just kidding, I am sure you did not indulge in the local sights.

Maybe I should see a Doctor about it...

Seriously, though, the Malays would take a machete to your private parts if you so much as looked at a woman. Then there's the missuss...

Are they Islamic? I can never remember who is over there. Oh well, I have a bad habit of grouping all asians together in my head. I had it explained to me one time that most of the nationalities over there feel no connection to each other. I probably should never visit Asia, I would probably make an ass of myself and just give more credence to the theory of American stupity.

Malaysia is Islamic, as is a great part of Indonesia. But you definately shouldn't group all Asians as Islamic, that'd be a horrible mistake. Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore etc aren't Islamic, for example (and that's only a small selection)
China has a large Islamic minority, but the vast majority of people there are Buddhists, Lamaists (a fraction of Buddhism), Taoists and Confucians. The Japanese are mostly Buddhist and Shintoist...

Show-off
To make it short :
99% of the Persian (Iranian) population are Muslims. 90% are Shi'ites, the rest being Sunnites (mostly Kurds, who are centred around Tabriz, but also populate parts of the Zagros region). The original (that is, pre-Islamic) faith of Persia, Zoroastrianism, is practiced in some small communities in the south; it is nowadays centred in Mumbai (Bombay), much to the dismay of local authorities (there is a nice anecdote of some official who is being annoyed by the towers of silence, where the Zoroastrians "bury" their dead -they leave them on towers to let the vultures get them-); you will also find some Christian communities in Iran, some of which are very old (during Roman times, the Persian Empire was a point of refuge to the Christians, though most only went to Mesopotamia); although Iran is strictly a Shi'ite state, only one faith, the Baha'i, is banned (propably because it's too heretic).

The native Malays are Islamic, but there's a significant Chinese and Indian population in the cities. I think you were probably thinking of Thailand (which is Bhuddist) - you can really catch some interesting diseases there....

Enough about diseases! How was the food? The heat brings tears to my eyes, but I love Thai and Indonesian.

Btw have you ever tried your legendary hand at WWI airplanes?

I'm with you there are Thai food Boco, green curry and Tom Yam are excellent, if you like chillies. The cosmopolitan nature of Malaysia means you can get really great Malay food (very similar to Indonesian curries), indian and chinese in the same restaurant. I've travelled all over the Far East and the only place you don't get decent food is Vietnam - kind of reminded me of home it was so tasteless.

I haven't tried any WW1 planes before. Did you have something specific in mind? BTW I'm intrigued by this scenario you're working on for ToT (?). Is it the Brits versus the Turks in WW1?

Yep, it's called 'El Aurens' and has a smattering of Senussi and Hashemites as well. Early beta testing indicated it's got a ways to go. Mainly looking for a Bristol F2b (see http://apolyton.net/forums/newreply....threadid=83485).

I once made a Burmese chicken recipe that called for 40 cloves of garlic for a two serving meal. Otherwise it wasn't very spicy, but we spent the next 12 hours in reeking isolation. Stuck with Thai and Indonesian after that.

Haven't you tried the "Bagnacauda" recipe?

Fermented fish, Fontina cheese and a garlic clove for every person... Believe me when i say when people do that bagnacauda have to close every hole in their houses to avoid bad discussions with thew whole nieghboroughs... not to mention they're permabanned for a couple of days from human consortium...

Nice to see you back Fairyline!!!

Indonesia is the worlds largest Muslim nation, but having lived there before, it is sufficiet to say that Islam in indonesia is not the same Islam youll find in the middle east. Most people still believe in the old pagan superstitions, and thus mainstream Islam and local religions have mixed and matched and merged. Not unlike Christianity in the U.S. really. Anyway......

Fermented fish, Prom?? They sound lethal.

Boco: I've had a go at the F2b - its in the WW1 graphics thread. Its my first go at a ww1 plane so it may not be up to scratch.

I remember talking to a Swede once about Lutefisk. He said he didn't know anyone other than Minnesotans that ever got near the stuff. What's the pH of that foul brew?

Fairline, I'll dig up some Martinsyde links. Thanks!

Lutfisk? Didn't know it even existed outside Sweden...
And if you're talking about the thing you put it in in order to "transform" it to lutfisk Then the it's strong enough to make you blind if you get it in your eyes

The fish is quite good though (only ever eat it around x-mas though)...
