What to do with the Foreign Ministry job?
We have a dilemma. The election for the Foreign Minister, a job only James Adams ran for, is hung after equal votes for both he and the Banana option.
Two choices have come to mind: either let James Adams have the job anyway or let the Vice President 123john321 do it for the term. Otherwise if anyone else has any ideas or would like to stand for a reelection, then let's here it.
This poll is for 5 days, as it is unlikely that we will have met anyone by then (if indeed Ministers' orders are up and the game has even progressed far!).

I think we have to give the job to James Adams. It's not like he *lost* to the Banana, it was a tie. So a choice ought to be made between the tied candidates. Let a tie go to the human.

I agree, furthermore, some people who voted banana said in another thread they were willing to withdraw their vote.
This includes your historian

Oh, and I thought that the cabinet decided in case of a tie, but this was between 2 players.

how can John be added as a candidate for the position? He never nominated himself for it, he took a chance at running for president and lost, he should have known the risks. Let JA have it already so we can start moving along, it's already the 14th and we haven't played a single turn yet...

A note to add my agreement with H Tower. Either it's between James Adams and the Banana or it is an assigned position in case of a tie. Time to move on.

I withdraw my vote for JA so that makes the banana the winner.

Why is this such a big deal? Give it James Adams for a month. He expressed interest, he now owns MGE, we need more active participants, especially in the Cabinet -- what's the freakin' problem???

Well it means a month of officially- encouraged spam, for one thing. And it means a month of "Oh good, great", for another.
How quickly we forget...

I'm not sure of all the fuss either. 123john was added as it gives trhe VP something to do, and he expressed an interest after this problem started. I just wanted to give another option, as I can never be certain just how many people think one particular way without a poll (some vote but don't post their opinions).
Let's relax, guys. There will be no demands on the Foregin Minister for some time anyway. We need Writing before he can give us any information, AND to have contact with other civs, AND to have spared the time and effort for an Embassy.

the Vp's job is to post screen shots once the game gets going, to take some pressure off the president once the game gets more complicated.

If we don't give James something constructive to do, becomes his best option.

This is correct.
I was trying to make the point that people saying they voted one way and now withdraw there vote should not be accepted as there is no way of confirming who they voted for.
Let JA have the job but if we get any spam post ("oh good, Great") then he must be removed from office and the game.
I hope he does a good job.

"oh good, great"? Must be something I missed from the first two games.
I think we should give the job to James and not john b/c James actually ran for the position. And no, he didn't actually lose.
And a good point, Hydey.

spam is a moderator's job, part of the forum and has very little to do with the playing of the game. Now if for some reason a punishment for spamming was a ban, then it would be reasonable to remove a minister, otherwise no.
And now that that is settled, could we please return to the topic of whether James Adams should be Foriegn Affairs minister even though he tied with the banana. No more talk of spamming.

It seems to me the poll speaks for itself.

Off course spam is a mod's job, but in a demogame the players have the right to choose and remove any minister they want. Whatever the reason behind it.
