End of an Era
It is with a heavy heart that your Marshal must inform the people of the fact that he has grown weary of the duties that he must perform to defend the Motherland. I wish to be able to withdraw at least temporarily to a dacha east of Moscow where I can study my books in peace, far from the chaotic war.
In other words, I have Final Exams coming up soon, and I won't have time to be performing the duties of Marshal. I'd like to continue up until the 25th of April, but at that time I would like to have a successor ready to step in and take my place. I've got us going, the Marshal's position isn't so hard, the main duty is delegating and supervising others.
I promise to continue leading our trops until the 25th, b then I hope we can have a replacement decided upon.
So step forward! Throw your hat in the ring! Take control and lead us to victory over Hitlers' Armies!

I'll nominate, at least until H tower finishes exams
though I still want to retain my command of the belorussian front. ( I won't give myself the best units, truly I won't..)
My qualifications include : Played RF a lot, Have a I.T job where i'm available to actively perform my duties almost all day and my relatives also took part in this war (russian side of course) and most importantly I'm a RF dg adict that just can't want for the next turn.

I don't think it's fair to have both a command and the marshal seat, especially as there are people interested in commanding...

Yeah, but without the command, few want the Marshal role.
I mean, if only one person want to be Marshal - on the condition that he keeps his command - and there are no other volunteers, then he should be Marshal.

I think of of the experienced Front Commanders should step up to be Marshall and one person waiting in the wings should get a chance to be a Front Commander.
Or an experienced Minister should step forward, and someone should backfill.
We just had a thread asking how we could get people more involved. I believe this should be considered.
Just MHO.

* I think its the other way around, you need commanders at the front with RF experience and the marshal doesn't necessarily have to have a lot of expereince, as they can listen to the RF community and reinforce where asked/decided.

OK maybe I misunderstood, I assumed he was the ringleader and should have at least some experience with RED FRONT, but either way I have nothing against you doing both roles per se, other than it gives someone else something to do even if temporary, and helps to satisfy what I think is the goal of getting others back/ involved. But again thats just MHO

conmcb25,
I'm with you, if somebody else wants to be a front comander I think you should let him your spot, that way we'll be more players
if somebody doesn´t play his turn is the marshall who has to do it so he also needs some experience

Comrades shall I send a political officer to all of the Citizens who are not responding to our plea for assistance?
(PM everyone who currently isn't actively participating)
I can complete that task within 24 hours, and probably less.

While I appreciate the offer to take another front command, it must be noted that I just stepped down from the Murmansk front.
Sorry, but I will just post as a citizen of the glorious rodina.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. I've heard MarkG warning people in the past about mass, unasked for PM's to civgroup members.

I hear you but it seems to be working. And I only sent them to people who aren't directly invovled. And it was strictly on topic.
I wont make a habit of it.
Who is going to Mod while you are gone??

If someone would like a Front command, I took over the Murmansk front due to obiwan not being able to continue.
It's a very important front, due to the convoys that have to get through (huge source of and science beakers once delivered).
If there are interested generals out there, I would step down after the current turn, as I have a lot on my plate now.

Lets make sure we get a Marshall first OLD GUY!
It looks like we have some interest in a Front Commander position.
How did we decide this will work? The Stavka selects the Marshall and then the Marshall selects the new Front Commanders? (If necessary.)
Comrade Knapowsky-concerned Soviet Citizen and official Soviet Gofer boy.

This forum hardly needs modding at all. I won't be completely gone, just unwilling to spend time playing civ2. I plan on giving poly and all computer games half an hour a day starting on the 25th until finals are done sometime around the 20th

Too many Canadians serving as Front Commanders.
What you need are a few Eurocoms mixed in with the Americans.
Look at the Off-Topic! Clearly this is the proper formula for conflict.
