Can a new Great Leader spawn when you already have one in reserve?
I'm pretty sure I've never had two GLs at the same time...

And it also seems that when I keep one in reserve I can win countless battles with elite units without it spawning a new GL, whereas when I use my GLs immediately I easily generate 5 or 6 during the course of a game.

So, does the probability of generating a GL drop (even to 0%) when you already have one??

No new leader can spawn when you already have one. (civ3 rules)

So use your leader ASAP, or spare your elites in battle.

hum, ok thanks for the info.

Using them ASAP is pretty much what I've been doing anyway in reaction to what I had observed.

I didn't notice it in the manual. It's been a year and a half since I last read it though...

There were reports of multi-leaders with much earlier versions of CIV3 but I'm not sure how accurate they were.

I believe an earlier patch fixed the possibility of having more than one GL at one time. I do remember when I first strated playing Civ3, there were a couple of times that I had more than one GL running around...I actually miss that.
