You sunk the U-boat and it turned into one of your own units? Weird. Never seen that before.
I'd guess it's an events.txt gone wrong - but that's just the vaguest guess. I know that often when one destroys a unit in RF, new ones spawn automatically. Maybe this is one of those events?
Definitely a good reason to save and reload.

Pretty funny, and I can honestly say, that I've never experienced it.

I assume STYOM is right. It looks like some of the settings of RF have been mixed up.

no, it is not because the events,
I put my unit there to sleep before, and then and the u-boat move there and didn't kill the unit, just move in the same square
a few turns before my ship was kill by a u-boat.
first time you see this?

Very, very strange.
I have a hard time believing it has to do with events though... Atleast not in the way suggested. It'd be more likely in that case that the game failed to realize that there was a unit there allready and spawned one on top if it in that case...
I don't think any units are supposed to spawn in that part of the atlantic though.

I've seen something like this in a MP game where caravans were mysteriously sleeping in the middle of the ocean.
Can you activate and command the sleeping unit after the "incident"?

Isn't that like that other bug in Red Front? The one that keeps the americans from advancing? They capture a german city, but the game thinks it belongs to the russians?
I have had a version of this bug happen to me: I left a frigate in the top-left most square, and a U-boat spawned on top of it. Once I moved the frigate, I could kill the u-boat with another unit. One time I didn't move the frigate at all, and the U-boat moved one square, killed the frigate, then went on.
No big deal. Certainly not game altering, unlike the thing with the americans...

Yep I agree with Cal. I just had this happen to me in Red Front, a U Boat spawned from events on top of a cruiser. I killed the uboat with a destroyr and the Cruiser could move again. Very strange. You would think the unit could NOT spawn in a sqaure occupied by an enemy unit.

we could make a test, maybe in the sea square the units just appears via event no matter which units are in the spot

yes, I've seen exactly the same bug in Red Front Cal described, a u-boat being created in the extream top left tile, regardless of my units being there.
I had a similar weird bug in the "Up the deadly boot" scenario, where when I would move units into one of by cities I would attack my own units within it! Like the game thought it belonged to the enemy.

Uh... does this seem a bit contrived to anybody else? How is it you knew to take a screenshot before this "weird" event happened?

Shaka, I've seen this before too. The only thing I'm not too sure of is whether it occurs because of the terrain type the unit is created on (ocean) or the domain of the unit (sea).
If I remember correctly there was an event in 2194days where the Americans got a transport in a particular city every turn - however if you captured the city the transport would still be created and could thus be disbanded for an extra few shields.
