Set CivIndex in userprofile.txt to 1 (or some other low value).
In another mod you started a new game with a civ which has an index higher than the total number of civs in Cradle (Cradle has 33 civs while the original game has 42; the index of for example Brazil in the original game is 37). Therefore, CivIndex in userprofile.txt is now set to this index and your game now tries to read the civ with that index, which doesn't exist in the Cradle mod. Hence you get junk and a crash.
