Sorry Slowwhand. This is America. And people are allowed to say what they like regardless if people pay them.
Also, people have every right to call for a boycott, because I've said before, stupidity is a freedom. But when a corporation that leases public airwaves decides they are blacklisting the Dixie Chicks, that violates the spirit of freedom in America. The people that want to live in a country like that can build a time machine and move to Nazi Germany.

And concerts are not for political dissertations.
What's so difficult to understand?

So no music acts should write political songs? Or express anything remotely controversial between songs?
As usual, your logic is dazzling.

Oh piss off. Don't tell me about the 60's.
And you people don't even listen to the damned Dixie Chicks anyway, or didn't until one ran her mouth.

And Sava, you're treading on extremely thin ice.
I have nothing better to do today than come north and kick your smart ass to the curb.

He has a point though. You don't want to go down the route of having your media excluding opinions that disagree with your government, even if it's by their own choice. That's not a good way to be going.

Peter, Paul, and Mary.
Joan Baez.
Bob Dylan.

But the Dixie Chicks? Come on.

Forget "when pigs fly"; look at the little oinker, and think "when pigs have political thoughts".

BWAHAH I love you Slowwy. But you'd be unsuccessful. And plus, I don't fight the mentally challenged.
Seriously though, I don't agree with Ted Nugent's politics, but I'm not boycotting him. In fact, I enjoy his music. The fact that so many people care about the Dixie Chicks' politics is hilarious. Why do people care what celebrities think?

her?
The boycott has very little to do with their being against the war but a lot to do with the disrespectful way they said what they said. From what I've read, the most outraged fans are those from Lubbock who were previously their biggest fans.

What exactly did they say? Was it simply that they are against the war or did they rip up a picture of the president or something? For all the people that think singers and actors should keep their mouths shut about politics does that mean we can finally get rid of all the flag-waving **** cluttering our airways? Seriously, does it mean I'm not a patriot if I want to puke everytime I hear this stuff?

as far as I heard they burned the US-flag in end of each of their gigs. they also threatened the president and all secretaries in the white house. they said they will kill them as soon as they get them. also they spread flyers and ordered all us-soldiers to desert from the army.
and if this all wasn´t worse enough they even said that Dan Quayle would have been a better president than W currently is.
these chicks are really evil.

Ooops, "disrespectful" versus it's majesty.
That's because they call the land of the free and the brave, right ?
You can say and do whatever you like, as long it's respectful and despleases nobody. You just have to know your place and keep your mouth shut.

Here in the US people are free to speak their minds. However we are all also free to get pissed at people who express their foolish opinions oversees just to make someone happy, and then take it back when it makes someone else unhappy.
Thats called being "two-faced." I can respect someone for their opinion, even if I don't like it. But then saying it wasn't exactly what you meant makes you look like a fool.
