And what exactly does "l33t" mean?

shortened form of "elite". I'm too lazy to type out a full example of l33t speak though. Basically people replacing letters with numbers and other symbols.

j00 n00bz. It5 1331, n0+ "l33t" !!1!
1331, aka 133+, aka l33t is a language spoken by crakers. Basically, you replace letters in words with similarly looking symbols, usually numbers, like this:
e = 3
a = 4
l = 1
o = 0
etc.. But if you are cool enough, you would use symbols instead:
t = +
a = @
m = |\/|
h = |-|
w = \\'
and so on. The idea is, the more unreadable your writing is, the better (as long as you can prove that it actually means something, and isn't just a set of random characters, that is). Also, another thing is, it is cool to mutilate words. For plural, you would add z on the end instead of s. For words where you have the combination of the k and the s sounds, you would replace that with x, etc. It is also considered cool to add an "or" on the end. Like this:
4p0l1+0|\| r0xx0rz
Hence, if 1331 means if you can read the stuff, you are leet (elite).
Crash course in l33t that was.

1331? You mean 1337. You can't use 1 for both l and t. That's just silly.

One should definitely use a '7' for the 't' as Ixy says........if you are going to make yourself look 14 you may as well do it right.

I don't know who to blame for starting this(maybe it's me, for calling attention to it), but you're right, this thread needs a lockdown. Bloody leetspeaker asylum. Leetspeakers should be hunted down for their pelts and not heard. Bah.

Well, a DL is a Double Login. I'd say the qouestion is answered, so from now on this thread likely will be a spammer's heaven. Or is it already?

Pfft. It should be '+' instead of t. + I say.
But yeah, 1 for both l and t in one word is bad. Shucks, I'm not leet enough.
As for the DL. Of course, in the context it was used here, the question has been answered, but there are actually manyu other uses for the acronym DL, which always make me chuckle, when I encounter them, remembering the DL dance from here:
Definition List (HTML)
Delay Line (electronics)
Data Link
etc..

Galvy starts the DL-dance
Hmm but sometimes it's just too tempting to create a DL and see how long it takes before someone finds out. In the end the punishment isn't worth the fun. The ban wasn't too bad but the PCR is. So my advice: be nice and don't try to mess with the mods they win in the end anyway.

Since the thread has now gone full circle...
Case Closed.
And while Galvatron provides good advice, we don't always win in the end, but we try REAL HARD
