Military Roll Call: Where Did You Serve?
I served in the U.S. Army from 93 to 96 and the National Guard from 97 to 99.
In the Army, I was a Combat Engineer and after basic training did my time at Fort Hood in the 8th Engineer Battalion (currently in Iraq). I was in Alpha and Charlie companies, then spent my last year working in Battalion operations. I did 3 National Training Center training rotations and was deployed for 3 months on Operation Safe Haven/Safe Passage. I was supposed to go to Sapper School but our unit's slot got cancelled due to Safe Haven. I never got above specialist as I didn't want to re-enlist.
After my discharge, I went into the Missouri National Guard and did a few years as an MP in the 1137th Military Police Company, where we did approximately nothing. I hated my whole time there.
Any other military vets out there, from any branches/countries?

I have done research whether I should join the Spanish Legion in the past.. but decided not to. I also looked at the Spanish Army. But decided I am going to go to the US and study in university.
http://www.ejercito.mde.es - nice video on the mainpage there I recommend watching...

Eli, as you know "Maintenance" is a vague term describing fuel supplies, and depots, etc.
I hope I'll get to MI, but that might be wishful thinking.

U.S. Navy from 1991 to 1999. I was a machinist mate. I worked in propulsion plants. basically I made the ship go through the water.
My first two years of my service was all schools essentually. I did my boot camp In Orlando Florida. I went over there in August. Hot as hell, but you eventually get used to the humidity. I also did my "A" school there.
I also did some training on the weapons station in Charleston, SC. Then I went to Nofolk, VA (actually I went to Newport News- my ship was in a serious overhaul). Or sometimes called No****, Virginia. There are too many men, and not enough women. I was stationed on the USS Enterprise from 1993 to 1997. And the USS Guam from 1997 to 1998 when it was decomissioned. I heard just recently that ship was sunk off the coast of North Carolina in a weapons testing exercise.
I then finished up my service at the Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA) in Pascagoula, MS. I was tired of Virginia, and I figured any place was better than that. MS was poor, but I did like it better than Norfolk. That is also when I started posting at Apolyton back in 1999 after SMAC came out.

West Germany in the mid-1970s. ... OK, OK, I was only a military brat, and a young one at that. My late father served in some function or another in the U.S. Army in Berlin (and elsewhere in WG). I don't remember much from that time, but my mother's got stories up the ying-yang.

a total of around 500 days in the Swiss army - a little more than 100 days to go over the years until im 36 - I'm a lieutenant, regular compulsory serving time is 260 days until 32 (provided a vote in half a month gets approved, now it's still a little more and longer)

The working girls up there are still in mourning.
1981 - 87 Army Reserve, commissioned on Australia Day 1986.
Currently stand-by Reserve Officer, which means called up only for really big wars, not pissy little ones like Iraq.
Korea could do it

I hear this term on movies all the time and have never quite understood it. How far is a "click"?

I will probably serve in MI (got accepted)
But if they decide to leave me for some reason I will try to get my service postponed and study Software Engineering.
Then I can get anywhere from MI, to Air Force, to Navy, to Communications and Computing Core to whatever.
