Also, keep in mind we're trying to get someone to make a custom map for the game.

Standard. If we're shooting for a smaller game, why go larger?

6 teams; huge map.
It allows for Civ choices other than the early power UU civ's.
Peaceful expansion followed by large scale "peace and happiness" war's!

A Huge map would be nice, just because there's more land to conquer.
But I voted standard...

I second that!
There's lots of people saying they don't have time for this game, maybe we can hit on of them up to be our official Map Maker. I'd like to see if we can get a Historian or two onboard also before the start of the game.

I prefer standard or smaller myself, but I know I will not have time to be involved with this so I volunteer to make the map.
I have several "interesting" twists to add into it that I have picked up thoughout the Civ forums and playtested and would include the best ones in the map.
Strategic sea lanes, chokepoints, valley trails, etc.

Standard. If we stick with 5 teams (no AI!), then small is too small and large is too large for the small game we're aiming for.

8 teams Huge map with LOTS of water. Then we can fight over islands and maybe mod in some extra luxuries. Make it necessary to go to islands for specific resources.
And on the sea lanes idea I played a mod with those before and even the AI was fighting over those. Not sure what valley trail is though.
We could always play with a bunch of Teams and one Evil Wizard who's sole goal is to wipe out the teams.

should everyone know what the map looks like or should it be unknown so we can explore it?....could be hard preventing people from peeping at it though...
and standard is a good size....

It depends on how many teams there are. If there are 5-6 teams, standard. If there are 7+, a large. Not a huge... that's just too big.

It all depends on how many teams there are. This poll should wait, IMO.

well, he surely mentioned some interesting things to put in the map, so I guess I could support him too.

I could help to make the map, but I can't guarantee how good a job on it I would do.

If you and Thrumble work together on it, I'm sure you'll have no problems. I'll send a PM to him (and you) on the subject.
