They made me take one back in grade 5 when I transferred to the US system, to see about admission to the GATE program. It was a "real" child IQ test, in that it was delivered by a district psychologist.
I found the whole thing quite amusing, how they thought it was representative of intelligence...
There was a vocab section (obviously people who know more words are more intelligent! duh), putting pictures in a "proper" sequence, etc.
It was the most bullshitty test I've ever done.

I've gotten scores in the 140s on IQ tests I've taken, but I don't know how good a measure they really are for intelligence, so I don't put much stock in them. SATs too...got a 1300...but I know dumb kids who did very well, and smart people that did very poorly.

Theres also the different IQ testing to take into account, cognitive etc
Child testing was fun, I was told right up until the age of 17 that my high skill in maths meant i would do best in something along the lines of accounting or banking. I'm now on my way to a chemistry degree after refusing to even attempt to memorise all the equations needed for a maths A level
(Just checked some of these online IQ tests and they are basically an ego boost into making you buy whatever book goes with them )

On the contrary, I believe it led to my overconfidence throughout jr high and high school.
Which is why I'm bitter. I think I'd have been better off without it.

As far as I know there's a reasonable correlation between vocab and intelligence, so that's not so strange.
Here's a laugh. We used to have this thing called a "reading age" which was age at which your reading ability was considered normal. I was a pretty intense reader as a nine year old and these testing clowns told me that I had the reading age of a first year university student.
I never believed this because I used to spend most of the time reading a series of trashy detective novels. Years later, I was talking about it with a friend who had just finished his first year at varsity and he thought it was funny. Then we went to his house and it turned out he was in the midst of one of these same trashy novels. Weird...

On IQ:
I know two people that are members of Mensa. The first of them is really dumb. I mean sure he's really good at finding out the next number or letter in a series but that's about it. But that's about it. The other one is indeed smart but he himself thinks that the test measures just small a fraction of what could be considered to be intelligence. His real reason to be a member is that it could be a real door opener when it comes to finding a good job. And yes, that's smart I guess...

Agathon:
I had the same results as well, scoring at a first-year university level, for reading comprehension at around the same age.
Asher:
Sorry to hear that. It does give you confidence which is nice to have, but unfortunately there is a fine line between confidence and overconfidence.
As for Mensa, people pay money for tests that tell them they are smart. Best scam in ages.

A line many Apolytoners seem to have crossed. Over 60% think that they're in the 90th percentile or above? Please.

For the record, I have not voted in the poll because I can't figure it out.
It's a yes/no question, but no yes/no answers?!?! Confusing!!

I may not be smart, but shouldn't half of people be above the 50% precentile and the other half below? Is that not how the average of a gorup of people is worked out?

There's also (at the moment) 10 posters that's the smartest. There's at least 9 DL's for the moderators to work on.

There is the new question at the end of most IQ tests that asks if you have posted on Apoly OT, and if so to deduct 43.86 pts from your quotient.
If 49.2% of logins have not posted, that leaves those of use who have... at best... in the bottom half of the IQ table.

I can't say due to the broad range of what makes someone smart. I have good math and problem solving skills, above average writing skills, I'm fairly informed of current events, but still young and inexperienced. I really have no base of knowledge to compare my skills and intelligence to others on these forums.

There are many types of smart and most of them refer to an accumulation of knowledge in particular fields, or occasionally, in a breadth of fields.
Personally, I prefer to guage a person by their wisdom, even young people. A wise person is usually aware, regardless of their accumulated knowledge, that they remain ignorant of a great amount.

I wasn't sure what to vote. In terms of IQ, standardized test ability, all that ****, I'm probably in the 99th. In terms of Civ-ability, I'm also probably in the 99th. (Only 5 year old to land pre-1000AD on Emperor in CivI ) However, I am not anywhere near as knowledgable as a lot of people when it comes to world politics and stuff, the sort of thing debated on this forum. I ended up voting 75th, although 50th also sounds reasonable, depending on how you define "smart."
