But of course! Welcome, jdd2007!
And yes, I have to agree with Aidun: while American food is very global, nothing can truly capture the spirit of gluttany mingled with culture that is French cuisine! But don't worry, we'll still have plenty of pizza and beer too! We are not picky at Team Tabemono, we're just hungry!

French cuisine is indeed a fine source of gluttony, but I am going to have to throw down on the side of the Germans, beer, brats, braunschweiger, sauerkraut, and more beer. Damn, now I'm going to have to go find me some bratwurst... Brats and Beer...or, brats COOKED in beer, with beer on the side and some kartopfel salat. (Pardon my spelling it's been 10 yrs since I took German in school, and I don't know how to get the punctuations to show up)
On a side note, who on our team has been thrown out of an all-you-can-eat before?
Me, after 48 plates of shrimp, the store closed...(In a contest against the defensive linemen, I played offensive guard in highschool (American rules football btw)...Sizzler cooked an awful lot of shrimp that night...)

Germany, France, China, and America are the civs I remember being mentioned here... any of those four would be fine with me.

I think that we should make a new trait, called 'gluttonistic' for this team.
-Require 3 food per population point
-Requre twice the amount of food for growth
-Resources produce twice the amount of food bonus
-Irrigation gives 2 extra food instead of 1
-Special improvment: 'banquet hall' - requires 60 shields, allows city to grow every turn but causes 99% corruption rate.

Me, in college I hung out with a lot of BIG (as in 300+ pound, 6 foot, 6 inch) football players, and we would scout out unsuspecting all you can eat joints.
To my recollection, we were never allowed to go back to any of those restaurants............

I worked 3 years in high school at a dairy queen. I often made myself and other employees the largest items...... for example, a blizzard in the super jumbo soda pop cup, or a cheeseburger with 5 patties of beef, and half a pound of cheese.... oh, those were the days.
In collage, I hung out with many of the red team football players (350+ lb boys) and most of the hockey team at Michigan State... can those boys eat... we killed more than one all you can eat buffet, and loved it. I was always the runt being at under 200 lb....
Now a days, I regularly go to the sunday all you can eat brunch buffet with a couple of buddies.... I am still the skinniest (at 220 now... ouch need to hit the gym) and all those boys (cops mostly) weigh in at 300 plus. Lets just say, they have a special pricing for us, and a special couple of booths set aside for us........

Jeeze GK,
I haven't been under 200 since junior high. I wrestled at 205 in High school, and that was after going pure vegetarian to lose weight. Currently in at 280, which is fairly confortable for me (6'5")
Still, the sunday brunch is one of the best buffets in town. But, it's frightening that a local resteraunt has an actual 'Cole's breakfast' on the menu. 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, hash browns, and 4 slices french toast. Sills Cafe, from the days I used to drive truck and stop by each morning I was in town.

And I. When I was in high school, I ate...
bread.
Simply bread, with cheese or ham, or something else on it. That is most common here. People also don't buy the bread and the cheese in a restaurant in school, no, they prepare it at home and take it with them in a box or in a little plastic bag.
There is not even a real restaurant in school, only tables where you can eat at and a small shop, where they sell food and drinks, but that isn't larger than two phone booths.
Sometimes I bought a cheeseburger, but only occasionally.
Aidun

Team Tabemono - its two traits are culinary and non-industrious.
Culinary - a minus 1 on food production on all cities as certain food stuffs are pitched aside as not being worthy of the team's table ..("hey - ain't that a banana in the garbage there, says Beta as he disapperas into the garbage bin...")
Non-Industrious - all workers work at half speed because of the 4 large meals eaten every day. Also - workers are required for pollution control duty as far back as ancient times to clean up the ...er... mess made by workers who have over eaten. ("hey - can I have that big chunk there - says Calc as he climbs back up into the tree with his treasure...")

I don't think that 'culinary' would be a good trait for this obese team. They sound more like a bunch of human waste disposers to me than a group of connoisseurs.
I totally agree with non-industrious though

Yes, but you forgot our other trates....
Amazing feets - when hunger drives a man, amazing things can happen. All units start out as elite. Notible Cheafs (Great Leaders) are known to appear 3 or 4 at a time, often having cook offs or other competitions.
Girth - Because of out amazing girth, and the extraordinary strenght required to move around, all units start with 10 hit points.
Amazing Growth - Due to our culinary excelence, our cities start off with a resturant (grainery). Also, due to people imigrating to our nation to experience the fine food, our population grows two points each time.
Creativity - because we are always experimenting with new ways to cook and prepare different foods, our overall science rate is 3 or 4 times that of any other civ.
Greed and Trading mentality - Although greedy by nature and not wanting to share recipies, in order to transport the raw cooking materials our society has developed a complex system of barter. Our civ suffers a - 1 gpt income per population (the burden of supporting so many mouths) but when dealing with other civs we find their methods of trading so simplistic that we automatically get the best deal possible. Often, other teams give us items for no charge at all due to the masterfull way we trade and barter.

when I studied Japanese, once we had to make teams for a quiz.
we chose food vocabulary and our restaurant was the "neko han ten" where the most delicious food was served.
and I found this pic and added to our team logo
and when I saw the name of your team I remembered this pic

I figured may as well post this here as well for those who may not have made it over to MZO.
We need the following info (here are Zargon's suggestions)
Quote:
|
Team Name: Team Tabemono
Civ Name: Tabe-jin (it means "food person")
Team Civ: France
Team Color: hmm... that's a toughie... Roman "bloody meat" red?
Civ Leader: Chairman Kaga?
Leader Title: the Voracious
Civ Adj: Hungry (Hungry archers are storming our city!)
What do you guys suggest?
|
I argue for Orange as a color because studies have shown it increases hunger, (which is why allot of fast food trays are orange...) therefore making the other teams hungry upon seeing our armies and give up for a chance to join in our buffets.

Ah, thanks for transfering all that info over from MZO, UnOrthO! I do like the idea of the orange color inspiring hunger As for Bab Blue, well, if you can explain how it relates to eating Kloreep, maybe we can think about it!
