1st Ukrainian front
the 1st Ukrainian front is doing well
with poltava kharkov, kursh, gomel etc... still at out hands (not for very long...) we won´t have to worry for the defense of Vorozneh and Serafimovich during the summer time, they will be heavily attacked next summer though

the defense of Kiew of still there, the city with 5 veteran AA units and a KV-1 to the next turn is likely to hold a few more turns, and none a sinle coin has been spent with the city
if I could pillage fortreses now I would have been talking about holding the city for the whole game, damm rules
here is a screenshot, sorry but i'm with a 56.6k modem until monday so this is all the screenshots I'm going to post at the moment

do you mean that the cities won't be attacked in winter?

Do you see Kiev holding out through the winter?

yes, vorozneh and serafimovich will be attacked during the winter time but without the lutwafee supports it won´t be hard to defend them

and to the second question,
NO, It doesn't seem likely to me to hold Kiew during the winter time, maybe it will fall in during the november ai's turn

I doubt it will hold for more than a turn, their Wespes should be in those forts by now, and it is impossible to counter attack because of the panzergranadiers. More often than not, a He-111 can take out a vet AAA?

no a He-111 cannot take a vet AA

the secret is the high production that has Kiev, putting in the city all of the not very useful units and disbanding a few of them you can have an AA every turn,
right now the city has 5 AA and 1 KV-1, this turn is going to hold, I don´t know about the next one.
It will be difficult but we have stoped the nazis army for the whole summer

Do you think it would be worth it to try to hold Kursk? It is home to strongpoints guarding several important crossings of the river Don.

I don´t know, I was going to start a thread asking what to do with out cities, moving some units from Serafimovich and Vorozneh I could hold the city at winter,
but holding kursk during the summer with so many nazis cities around... I don´t know if it is a good idea

If we keep the Nazi's west of the Don thru next summer we will recapture cities like Kursk (if they fall) late next summer or early winter '42-'43.

Well what do you suggest?

There was only three or four units (mostly Red Army) in Kursk the last time I checked.

Did we determine it was against the rules to build cities on those fortified positions and rehome them?

Yes did we decide that was "cheating' or against the rules?

I know we said we couldn't do that with Fortifications but what about these Fortified Infantry?

Maybe its somewhere and has already been decided if so thats OK with me. Im just asking the question.

I believe these units you are talking about are Fortified Positions. The Russian equivalent of a "Hedgehog".

Fortifications to me are those big white blocks.

I believe the units along the Don are Fortified Positions and are different than Fortifications.

Two go to Kursk, one to Orel, one to Tula and two to Voroshilovgrad.

So my question stands, did we disallow building a city on top of these and rehoming them to the new city?
