Hi Obiwan, I'm actully surprised. I figured there to be alot more chaos and a much less well played game. Its good were winning, but it might be nice to have had a more titanic struggle...

Indeeed. I personally have never kept some of the cities you lot managed to keep. Well done indeed!
To despamify this post, General Kleshnikov is open to suggestions as to the best approach and technique for taking out the fortress city of Kosice. Please note this city is placed on a mountain hex and the (more than likely) 88's guarding it will have a 200% bonus in defense Not sure if their are walls or not...

I think they have movement zero, so you could use partisans (they seem to be very effective against zero-movement units) to soften their defences and then launch thousands of rockets from our many many Katyushka's

How would Sturmoviks do against that kind of defense? Of course, we would have to wait until the summer before we could use them.
Katyushas did well against the 88s in Helsinki, but Kosice with the mountain will be another story altogether with the defensive bonuses.

I believe the 88's in their multipurpose role are doubled vs air attack.. lemme check...yup And just for fun they are move 1, so no partisan attack bunus either. Hmmm

I would pile up a bunch of Tank Killers. They are cheap and fairly expendable. After the 88's are beat down if there is anything left in there that aint an 88 then hammer it then with sturmovichs. You could also use the Katusha's but they are more expensive.
Either way no matter what you do, its going to be tough killing 88's on a mountain. We just have to plan for casulties and move on.
Good luck!

Perhaps, using partisans in the mountians, I might surround the city, seige it, starve it, and hope to draw a strike from the 88. Easily finnished off by whatevers handy. That though, may take too much time.
Either way, this thorn in the 1st's side shall not delay the main thrusts, which will be based well north along established roadnetworks. I am keeping the weather in mind, and would prefer to of course attack in perhaps th last month of snow. As anyone can plainly see, my units are scattered across central and western Ukraine, they will need a bit of field marshaling® before they will assault Brno.

Woah, You all seem to be thinking that if a unit has no movement they are easy prey for partisans. THIS IS NOT TRUE!
You'll find that if a unit have NO ATTACK STRENGTH then the partisans can mince through them like a hot knife through butter.
Thank you

How about using artillery units? They're only movement 2 but they are cheap (we could rushbuy a load of them in the nearest cities). And are the best attcking unit we have (they pack more punch than Katyushas ).

Cowardly Nazi Plot revealed!!!
Comrades, the soldiers of the 1st Ukrainian have this month uncoered a dasterdly and cowardly ploy by the hated Fascists. It is my pleasure to inform you of great victories by our armies, fighting for the Glorious Motherland in this, our Great Patriotic War! We have known that the brilliant advances in the south by the 2nd Ukrainian have trapped the german 6th army for some time now. having been initially smashed outside Stalingrad, they are surrounded and being drained. What a perfect time for a pathetic german field marhal to make a dash for it and leave his 'bloved' troops behind to surrender.
Thats right, I have been told that guard tank elements this month captured none other than Field Marshal Paulus of the 6th Army! He was spotted, traveling only in his staff car with his closest adjuncts, making a break for it right under our noses at Lvov. This is fast open country, with few cities to fight over, so only holding forces were placed there. A perfect chance for escape over the mountains and into Austria... how he had made it this far we will not know.
For as soon as he saw that our troops were upon him, Paulus and co. began shooting thier harmless karbines at out tanks; dillusional, no doubt. Either way, they were gunned down and inspected.
We found proper identification on all the men, including Paulus in full dress. He must either have a doppelganger installed in the Stalingrad pocket, or have been secretly 'relieved' of his command, hence making a mad dash back to the filthy reich lair. Either way, the sight of a lone Field Marshal being slaughtered put our troops into a frenzy... No one wants to shoot an enlisted man anymore!
Either way comrades, we are nearing our goal, we are killing now the organizers of this heinous criminal invasion!!!
Units emiminated:
1 Field Marshal
1 Sdkfz 251
2 pz 38t
9/10th of a Hummel at (21,111) I'll need Beloruss to attack w/ a Guards Inf. division to finnish him off.

March 1943
Brno was taken by the advanced elements of the 1st Ukrainian this month. A small armoured contingent destroyed a panser gredandiers as well as a quad 20 mil AA sdkfz in the city. The main body of our forces is a month behind, consolidating for the attacks on Prague and Vienna. Said attacks to be carried out next, or the following month. Our heavy infantry make up doesnt allow for terribly swift winter advances.
Also of note, a very small shock force has taken a fortress, effectively behind fascist lines Nikolaev. There, our guardsmen, and tankers destroyed 4 units, of which 2 wermacht were identified. Also in the area are more Rumainians which will be dealt with in due time. Hopefully this jab to the fascist flank may somewhat aide the 2nd Ukr in their clearing of the germans to the southeast.
General Vasili Kleshnikov.
1st Ukrainian

The 1st Ukrainian is in need of general to lead them on their final assaults. I am taking an armoured train to moscow shortly, but would like to show any new leader around a bit... we've fixed it up so nice here at the 1st.
My initial thoughts of course turn to Comrade Naldayev. Shemir, are you available to lead your former units toward final victory? If Comrade Naldayev is unavailable, the position will be up for grabs.
