Turn Chat 21: from 1160 BC (Turn 142) -- Sunday 11th May, 18:30 GMT
This is the thread for turn chat 21.
Rescheduled to:
Date of chat: Sunday 2003/05/11
Start of chat: 18:30 GMT (19:30 BST - Apolyton's GMT). (The time I made this post, in fact).
Estimated duration: 2-3 hours
Place: http://213.51.142.102/chat/example1.html (courtesy of Locutus)
Previous thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=83987
Presence/Orders:
I await orders from the Ministers and confirmations of the presence of all Citizens.
All Ministers need to be present, have appointed a delegate (who *is* present), or leave behind detailed orders, or the chat cannot take place.
Domestic issues:
Q1 What should we build in each of our cities in the next ~20 turns? In particular Wambatoon has nothing in its queue.
Q2 Under what circumstances should we use what kind of Specialists in which cities?
Q3 Should we be building more Caravans yet? If so, when and where?
Infrastructure issues:
Q4 How much of our PW reserve should be spent on what and where?
Q5 Is more PW required for any other purpose soon?
Diplomacy issues:
Q6 Should we actively pursue changes in relationships with any of the civs?
Q7 How should we respond to diplomatic requests and treaty violiations by the AI?
Science issues:
Q8 What should we research now?
Q9 What should we research next?
Military issues:
Q10 In what direction (roughly) should our explorers go?
Q11 Are movements of our defensive forces needed? If so, under what conditions?
Q12 What should we do with our attacking forces?
Misc issues:
Q13 Should there be any change to the sliders?
Q14 Is there anything I have forgotten?
As I said in the Cafe, I don't really know what's happening right now, so I've kept the questions
quite general. Please attempt to answer them nonetheless. Thanks.

I have just realized that there may be a problem if we have no #lemuria to go to... Any ideas on that?

In that case we could use the CivFanatics Chat channel, it seems to be easy to generate a #Lemuria channel there, by just trying to enter it. At least it worked as the registration of the #Lemuria channel went lost, so we talked in an unregistrated one.

I will be there Sunday and I will post a "State of Lemuria" with the building orders tonight. Wombatoon has no orders yet as I have stopped the game just after the city has been retaken.

Do either of these have a thing like the Java chat here at Poly? I'd rather not install mIRC...

For this chat i wont post a ministery of Defense because the lack of time. And i wont be posting order for every unit like i was doing before because this was causing very hard orders hard to bend. Instead i will give major guidelines for every plan:
Plan: Pilsen Taken
Keep moveing Takers toward the City of pilsen from the nort to the south unti it reachs the tile with the alligator good near that city. Dont be afraid of the Hebrew stack if they attack us it we will probably win but do not attack that stack at all. if it gets in the way move around it.
In paralel move the warrior (army 407) to the city too but keep it one move point away from the city moving it NW, NW, Stand still. From. Move the Avengers to Pilse too dont mind leaving it alone if needed but the stack named Wombackup should take care of the city fortifying in it and renaming the army to Wombatoon Defense.
Once the stack of Avengers reach Lins add a Samurai and a Archer to it and keep moving it to Pilsen.
Once the Takers reach the tile with the alligator good send the suicidal attack of army 407.
Depending on the nuber of units in the city, the people in the chat should decide if we should attacj now with the Takers or wait the Avengers.
In case of attack NOW just do it.
Otherwise move it was decided to wait move takers East then NE this way we can see if any bak up had reached the city and we also get defense bonus from the forest. Again dont be afraid of a attack. It it happen it will be an advantage for us since we get tile bonuses and thay get none. When Avengers arrive and attack can be simultaneous launch attack.
Plan: Eastern Region Defense
Keep patrolling the north of Pedrunnia with the mounted Archer moving all the way to one side of the river in one turn and the way back in the other. We have 12 units in CL, 11 in mapfi and 9 in Pedrunnia. Coordinate a defense unders this circustance wont be a problem i am sure.
The size-7 german stack dont scare me. We can just keep an eye in it ine the next turns.
Plan: Nothern Region Defense
We have little defense up there but in case of a threat units from Pedrunnia can be sent withou major problems since we have a patrpl in the north of Pedrunnia. But before this kind of move the people in the chat should have the right to opinate.
Plan: Explorers
This is very situation dependend but i say move GoodSight to the Istmo to make a travel around the world and Providence shou move east uncovering south pole.
Plan: Magdeburg Settle Scourt
I give Tamerlin the power to move Bait since he will be needed to protect the settler to come
Notes
Any of these decision can be altered due to a discussion in the chat.
I wont show up. So i give J the right to choose a delegate among those presents for me.

Ah yes. I think CFC has a Java Chat.
Incidentally, the thread title says April, not May..

Yes, Martin's right - CFC #lemuria seems to work, and they do have a Java chat, so we'll go there.
IW:
April, May - you mean they're not the same?
Well, I've fixed what I can, if Locutus could fix the real title I'd appreciate it

So what must we do to join the chat if we can't use the Apolyton Lemuria channel?

If you wish to use a Java Chat, follow that link and enter "lemuria" for the channel. If you want to use mIRC, I have no idea...

Anyone had any luck? I believe that I'm in a channel but if it's not 'real' then it might not work properly - we could all end up in different places...

Strange... I wonder why it worked for me and Martin... Possibly it's because I'm already there?
Ah well... I don't know enough about these things to make any kind of judgement. I guess we'll have to delay chats until 'Poly is working again or somebody who knows what they're doing can give us better instructions...

Zaphod: We couldn't find anywhere to hold the chat, unfortunately. Until the Apolyton chat is working again I'll probably have to play via turn threads.

OK, I'm turning this into, at least temporarily, an honorary turn thread.
Turn 142
1. Followed all instructions in the MoDA State of Lemuria
2. Moved Takers S
3. Warrior near Pilsen SW-SW
4. Mounted archer patrols west and meets a German settler - request orders regarding that
5. Moved Goodsight toward the Isthmus and Providence somewhere... I can't remember which way any more .
6. Moved Wombackup into Wombatoon
Clarification needed on the following:
huhahu: Can you clarifywhat you would prefer the PW to be set to now - I'm not sure from what you said above.
What should I do about the german settler?
What should I do with the archer between H Town and Wels?

I said just what we had done. If u can play with pw to 10%, its ok for me then.
If we need to boost the infrastructure we can rise them from time to time to 80% for one turn, if needed.
Dont forget to place mines, fields and so on.
