Yes, some can be found at the bottom of a barrel of rum, others floating near the top.

Genius
Not that we have such illogical and prejudiced ideas of the pirates among the CyCon. Not at all

The University welcomes anyone with proper academic credentials!
Be advised, though, that your area of interest is quite well-studied here already. You will have to excel to distingusish youself!
Oh, and welcome!

Then don't join the pirates. Ye wouldn't find any of them sorts in the many taverns down by the quays cavorting and fancying any young pirates just off the sloops. And looking for romantic interludes to discuss pieces of eight. No sir.
You're right join the university and become a professor.

You two send a PM to (Chairman) Voltaire, and click on the link above the top of this forum for the Hive.
Then wait for him to authorise you. Shouldn't take long

No need to send the PM, you’re already authorized. Welcome to the Human Hive!
Before you enter please leave all your belongings with kind gentleman with a gun to your left. And don’t forget to swear eternal allegance to Chairman Voltaire... have a pleasant stay in the Hive.

Is there a way we can maybe cap the number of people in each team, since the Hive has twice as many people as every other team, which could be a problem if people leave from other teams.

It isn't our fault if everyone see's the glory that is the Human Hive. However, I do agree with (future) Comrade Drogue in that we should cap the amount of individuals that join a team.
However, since defections seem to be banned from now on, I don't think we should have a problem now. But that is to Comrade Chairman Voltaire to decide.
Glory to the Hive!

I think people might want to join just because it is a big team (or because it is the best faction in many people's opinions). How about a cap of twice the amount of the least popular faction? That would give room for growth, but would mean no teams get left behind people wise.

No, no. People join not because it is a big team. But because they see what a great nation it is! And they expect that they will live a frutiful and full life in the Hive like the other comrades who already enjoy the advantages of being a Hivian. I still remember the days when the Capitalism seemed to be so everywhere and the Hive seemed to be such a small team... Now you just couldn't resist the attraction of the glorious Human Hive!

Yes we may have limited food, mineral and/or energy credit, but we have high spirit because we are led by the party and the great chairman Voltaire. Let the capitalist dogs sweat and let the bystanders wonder upon witnessing what have been produced in the Hive. Come join the Hive!

I feel we urgently need the recruitment thread so as the less democratically challenged can find their utopia

I agree. It's great that everyone wants to join us in the Hive, but things are starting to get a little lopsided.

Hi, I just stumbled across this DG... I think this can be more fun than Civ3 DGs, since SMAC is a better game indeed.
Captain Svensgaard, can I join the Nautilus Pirates? Please...

No, that's the job of whoever moderates the Pirate forum... Hercules, possibly, but I'm not sure.
