Infogrames has been using the logo Atari for about a year. At first, they have used it to ship an Atari anthology (some compilation of old games enriched old players pay big money for). Then, they have used it for their most modern games, such as Unreal Tournament 2003 or Unreal Championship.
Edit : well, I wasn't aware they intended to rename themselves to Atari completely. It can only be a good idea IMHO. Infogrames has now too much of a bad reputation, at least among us Apolytoners
Atari is reborn ! All hail !

You know that a lot of ATARI chips ended up being used in washing machines
Now try to make a mod for that
I had an 600XL with a full 16Kb of memory..

Having failed to establish Inogrames as a respected name amongst game players, it makes sense to rebadge. A pity - Infogrames had pretty humble beginnings.
But you cant keep a plant in the same size pot all its life, and the games world has moved on - or maybe its just gone full circle.

Infogrames was a great company at the beginning, back when they developed games for Atari
Too bad they have become too big, and had taken a corporate mentality, rather than a programmer's mentality That explains why they have lost their reputation.

I remember a great Infogrames' game for my Amiga. I can't remember the name, North vs South or something, but it was a comics-like game about the American Civil War with both turn-based strategy, real-time strategy and platform action parts. Best of all was that you could play it against your buddy using one part of the keyboard each.
It's rare to find a game with the gaming value of the old Amiga and Atari games today, despite the huge improvements in graphics and computer power. Or perhaps I have just grown older?

Last time I played Missile Command, Asterioids and Centipede, I don't recall any bugs...
Well, centipide had them but they were on purpose

Yes, North and South ruled I recall spending all my days on this small wonder

It is based on the Belgian comic Les Tuniques Bleues" (no clue about the English name)
