My favorite neighbor is the one I've reduced to one landlocked city with my borders surrounding theirs.

I also enjoy when theyre stuck on one single tile city in the middle of the ocean. Then, whenever I feel weak, i go and talk to my little Greek buddy, who is furious with me, but is otherwise powerless

Are you kidding? I HATE the little island civ! That is, if they're on one little island because I've driven them from the mainland...

I want their culture GONE, NOW!

Always seems to work that way doesn't it? You smash into what should be the last city, but they're still around. You check both the diplomatic screen and pull down list of cities and they have no city listed. A couple of turns later, a little one tile island city shows up and there's nothing you can do about it unless you're the Vikings or have marines.

I finally used a privateer for the first time this morning... to eliminate an Ottoman "exile ship" that had floating around for 40+ turns, keeping the Turks alive well after I had taken their last city.

Ottoman culture is no more!

For some reasons I have always pretty good relations with the Ottomans for a long time. Also the greeks are usually not so bad.

The worst are the germans and the romans. Both are fan of the sneakattack :@

On another continent, my favourite neighbour is anyone who offers more than 100 GPT for one tech or one resxource (preferably luxury) or who wants less than 50 GPT for any resource/tech that I need (I've been able to make these kinds of deals several times in a row).

On my continent, my favourite neighbour is my late neighbour.

Yes, the Ottomans do seem relatively peaceful. The Romans can be nasty, but for some reason, Carthage always seems to be the nastiest. Yes, I know their aggression level is not the highest. I don't understand why, but if Carthage grows to mid-sized or larger, it inevitably attacks like a rabid dog and wins most of it's wars. It doesn't win against the human player necessarily, but it's attacks are certainly more well coordinated than others I've seen...

...the Spanish, too... super-agressive! What can be the reason for this? (other than "they're stronger than you," which is not necessarily the case when they attack)

Gandhi... no hesitation !!
Alexander and Jeanne are often good peacefull neighbours, too.

But Gandhi, by far, is the best... Sometimes he can be my ally during almost an entire game.

I hate the Spanish. They start so far away from me half the time, grow to a modest size, are way behind by the Middle Ages, but jump into competition by the late game. And they're usually too far away to do anything about!

Joan's a great neighbor. For some reason I never have started next to Gandhi, or I might be able to say as much about him.

I must add Mao to my list of good-to-have neighbors. I've only ever been attacked by him once... though I will note that I have never been attacked by India, in so far as I can remember.

I like starting next to the Egyptians, as they generally build good cities that are easy to conquer.
