I was impressed with the first game, but found it difficult to get into. Too much text.

I got bored halfway through the original Golden Sun, so no (IMHO).

Never heard of it. Must be a console game.

I loved Golden Sun, but calling it the best RPG ever is a bit absurd. All non-retards acknowledge Crono Trigger as the best RPG ever made.

calling a gameboy advance game the best RPG ever is just absurd... as opposed to what some people may think, nice graphics DO contribute to the athmosphere, and really do much in terms of gameplay...
Even in an RPG a good story doesn't make the game alone.. although to be honest I've never played the game, as I only have a regular gameboy, tetris style etc

Neverwinter Nights
only if you play it like it is meant to be played. Multiplayer custom module with one or even two DM's using the Hardcore ruleset using all the DM and player wands including dice bags.
It still has limitations, but at least I can tell the DM I'm going to dismantle a bench and attempt to fashion some weapons out of it (ie clubs). the game itself has a lot limitations on manipulative objects though- something Morrowind does very well. But having a DM makes the game much better for true role playing aspects.

Many of the best all-time RPG's are on the SNES, with worse graphics than Golden Sun has. Graphics don't mean **** as far as RPG quality is concerned.

Besides, Golden Sun DOES have good graphics.
And Drake's right - Crono Trigger is probably the best.

THAT was a great game for its time, you could interact with so much of the background that it was scary...and a great plot didn't hurt either. I still play it with Exult every oh, couple of months of so.
Too bad 8 & 9 were so-so.
As for GBA rpgs, good graphics are a plus, but don't make or break a game unless they are very, very bad or very, very good.

Best rpg ever is Shining force 2, imho. I also found golden sun a bit hard to get into, didn't even finish it. I'm gonna have to give it a try though.

FF6! FF6!
I do like golden sun, though. And Romancing SaGa 3, for the SNES.

I don't know about single player, but no RPG touches Neverwinter Nights in MP. The best gaming bucks I ever spent.

Golden Sun saved me from total boerdom during my time in the military service. (Especially all the time traveling over the Baltic sea, and all the time in field when there were nothing to do)
