i have no faith in humankind's ability to not exterminate itself in a fit of self-hatred.

Ice. He looks cooler and you get a whopping 50x more points than normal from... everything when fighting against him. Fire only gives.. was it 5x or 10x? I can't remember...

Most certainly ice. It's a less sweaty way to die.

When I first looked at the poll numbers it was Fire 5, Ice 9, and Banana 3.
Ice nine, heh.
Given their recent weather, I wonder if someone flushed a thermos full of ice nine down into a Calgary sewer.

Fire and rain
Nah, only fire. Fire is red. Red is beautiful.

I, like the poet who first asked this, go with fire.

Was the poet perchance Arthur Brown?

Interesting question but rather academic as we don't get the choice - it's going to be fire, but not for about 4 billion years.
Have a nice day

Now, don't make offensive comments!
(I'm not saying which of us might be offended though )

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
-- Robert Frost
This is the quote I think he was talking about.
I vote for ice.
Less painful (as many ppl mentionned it doesn't really hurt until you unfreeze it, which I dont expect to have to do in this case).
And in Canada, our extra readiness would make us survive a bit more so we can contemplate and meditate a bit more on the fate of humankind before the numbness puts us to sleep.

barring that....searing fire. Ice is actually more agonizing that fire. If the temp is hot enough, we'd all be ashes before we hit the ground. Ice=we would shiver uncontrollably until our extremities fell off from frostbite.

True that. But the question is about dying in a fireball, or equivilant. Imagine the friction necessary to do that.
Don't think about that statement too much.

Both.
Yngwie Malmsteen
Fire and Ice (1992)
Everyday is like a set up race
And the world is still a lonely place
To be or not to be is this the final quiz.
A flash in the pan goodbye
Still shooting for the open sky
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
I cannot find a compromise.
It's all just treason
They bring me down with their lies
Don't know the reason
My life is fire and ice.
Tomorrow will be different
All you need is just come confidence
I dream of being a warrior
So far beyond.
There's a voice, that whispers I can fail
I believe it's just a trick of the tail
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
There is no way no compromise.
It's all just treason
They bring me down with their lies
Don't know the reason
My life is fire and ice.
[/eats nice fruity blend, with banana]
