Weird Al appreciation and new album info thread
This thread is to discuss the greatness that is Weird Al. In case you didn't know, he has a new album arriving on the 20th entitled Poodle Hat, which I anxiously await. Here's the supposed tracklist (gotten from another board, so I can't verify it's authenticity):
1. Couch Potato (parody of Eminem`s "Lose Yourself")
2. Hardware Store
3. Trash Day (parody of Nelly`s "Hot in Herre")
4. Party at the Leper Colony
5. Angry White Boy Polka (polka medley containing Papa Roach`s "Last Resort," System of a Down`s "Chop Suey," the Vine`s "Get Free," the Hives` "Hate to Say I Told You So," the White Stripes` "Fell In Love With a Girl," the Strokes` "Last Nite," Disturbed`s "Down With the Sickness," Rage Against the Machine`s "Renegades of Funk," Limp Bizkit`s "My Way," Staind`s "Outside," Kid Rock`s "Bawitdaba," P.O.D.`s "Youth of the Nation" and Eminem`s "The Real Slim Shady"
6. Wanna B Ur Lovr
7. A Complicated Song (parody of Avril Lavigne`s "Complicated")
8. Why Does This Always Happen to Me
9. Ode to a Superhero (parody of Billy Joel`s "Piano Man")
10. Bob
11. E-Bay (parody of the Backstreet Boys` "I Want It That Way")
12. Genius in France
So talk about Weird Al's geniusness and your favorite songs and such here.

i want it that way is too old.. he shouldn't have covered that
i always liked the medleys the most, he hits you when you least expect it with some accordian accompanied version of a pop song!
the avril songs sounds funny already...
i hate the song piano man and everything billy joel has ever done. a paradoy of his songs does not excite me in the least.
i won't buy this album even though i used to be a devout fan... why bother when i can download it.. HA!
anyway,
this thread also reminds me of former username "The Brain"

I likes the sound of that polka!
Apart from that, not terribly excited.

I listened some of his songs... the only one I really liked is the SW Episode 1 one. Others were not really bad, but not really good IMO.

The possibilities for "A Complicated Song" and "E-Bay" really thrill me.
p.s. I still have the Brain's screen name. Sometimes I consider starting a chat with him to ask him why he left...

My fave is "Amish Paradise", especially the video. The Saga Begins was pretty good, and the video for Fat always has me in stitches. Have to try and get the new album, but not sure they release it over here

Weird Al hasn't been that sharp in a long time. His first few albums are brilliant, but I think as he's got older he's gotten further removed from mainstream pop culture and so his schtick just isn't funny. His last really good album was "Fat."
His best stuff now, IMO, are his original songs and polka medleys. "Trigger Happy" was brilliant, as were the classics "Christmas at Ground Zero," "Nature Trail to Hell (in 3-D)" and "One More Minute With You."
His best parody is still "Eat It."

I like him alot but I think he's gotten a bit behind. A good portion of these songs are old.
I loved trigger happy as well

Also "Saddam" (I think it was called that). Very apt, to Chumbawumba's Tubthumping.

Hey... did I just hear the words Weird Al and new album mentioned?
Can't wait for that one to arrives...
His best song (and video) so far is a tough competition between Eat it and Amish Paradise...

It's pretty good. A bit derivative of his previous work parodying tv, but I liked the beginning, and that photo of him in the hoody is hilarious.

Ah, I enjoyed 'Dare to be Stupid' as well. 'Amish Paradise' was LOL funny... especially the video.
