Damn, I've reached a point where I can't play the game anymore... shortly after I load a house, it crashes... I've got two lots, and it happens by both of them... I can't see the error msg, since it hides behind the game, which is frozen

I just found what caused the error (I believe)... I apparently put a too big movie (or maybe the format wasn't ok) in the movie library... I put in in last night to test, but I didn't get to test it before now, and then I forgot about it

Well, Deiter had adapted well to an unemployed lifestyle. Every day he wakes up with a simple want... to eat a toaster pastry. Not quite up to par with the dreams he used to have of sculptures and such, but atleast it's realistic. He even had to sell one of his posch counter tops for $390 so that he could buy a phone, garbage bin, and toaster oven to make his life just a bit easier. He spends pretty much all day painting, now. He's gotten pretty good and has even done a portrait of one of his neighbours (who he's actually good friends with).
And when I left him, he had just left for his first day as a pick pocket... I wonder if it will pay better than his paintings do.

I've also been having fun with a toddler in one of my families. Little bugger just crawls around the house making a mess everywhere. His favorite thing to do is to play in the toilet... even after mom got sick and threw up in it, and neglected to clean it untill the next day.
I wonder what happens if you don't potty train a kid, or teach them to walk and talk.

For us, it is.
I've been having the CD problems, though, so you'll have to tell me wether time passes better than in the first game.

Yes! There are loads of psychological tests that you can perform that have been outlawed in the real world because of some nonsense about cruelty to children. Like making them grow up in the dark!
Or having dogs raise them!

I was thinking about making a family of 8 toddlers and seeing if any of them could survive into adulthood. (Probably not - I have a feeling they'd all starve to death quite quickly... unless they become cannibalistic )

Well in the link Skanky posted the person doing the evil things managed to set a fire in the room they built. Can you not create food in the same way? Or even just have a window that the children couldn't climb out of, but through which other characters (your evil scientist, and his beautiful assistants) could supply food.

I don't think there's anyway of 'creating' food for them to eat, without also hving to haev an adult give it to them.
Wait. Maybe I could buy birthday cakes and put them on the floor.....

I just read on the Sims2 board that to make movies to the tv you have to resize to 128x128 and use compression VP60...
Someone also noted that you can have them to take more than 1:30 minutes, or the picture will freeze... I haven't tested this myself...

Any chance I could like it if I found the original boring, uninteresting and was away after a few hours?

Yes. Most people in this thread have been playing an "acquired" version they got a few days ago, but the game has been released now. I saw it on sale in stores here today so I guess you can get it in the US too.

Why? Just start a new one, post something interesting in it and link to it from here. There's no need for Rah to lock this one.

It's the advantage of having one thread about a subject, or many. With one, it's easier to answer questions and the like.

Hmmm... I just noticed that there's something special about my families birthdays:
I have 1 child, 1 teenager and 2 adults
In 4 days the first adult gets older
In 5 days the child becomes a teenager
In 6 days the teenager becomes adult
In 7 days the second adult becomes an elder
I didn't even plan this
