Psychology is my major
I'm planning on getting a masters in it though and I'm going to get at least a major in economics.
But anyway, those just average starting salaries, it doesn't mean I can't make a good amount out of college.

How does all this 'Major' stuff work overthere? How are degrees Structured and is it common to combine 2 or more subjects?
Cheers

A BA or BS includes a well rounded education, which includes many different studies. Most people get a minor in something. It takes about a year to take all your minor courses. Some people get two degrees. If you pick a good combination it can pay off well.

Or you get a Ph.D. in Psych, get some experience and open your own clinic. Make $$$ by silly talks

I'm not in it for the money though.
Too many people would come in without real problems if I ran a clinic. Though it might make me feel good to stop people *****ing. I don't know. Plus I'd be worried that I'd stop waiting to help my friends with their problems, or treat their problems too impersonally.
That is why I will probably use a psych/econ combo for something like Human Resources.

People in the Humanities and social sciences (except econ fields) might make less money on average, but we are the ones who get to rule the world
wasn't Carter the last president with a scientific degree? What did Bush the elder study?

@monolith94
That's pitifull, considering most of them choose the major to teach school. I'm sure most of them either can't handle teaching or never get jobs.

What a very helpful thread!
I cant decide on a friggin major! I originally was planning on aerospace engineering, but several months ago I started having second thoughts, and have heard many horror stories in that field.
Currently im thinking about electrical engineering, but i hear the major is one of the most difficult.
My interests are very broad, and so ill be doing what ever i end up doing because of the money. Does anyone have any suggestions for a lucrative field to go into that isnt plagued by long hours of desk work?

From the people I know in electrical/computer engineering, it is the most dry, mind-numbing stuff you can do.

What they teach in high school tends to be computer programming, not CS.
And programming is more interesting.
