Yeah, fill it with engineers and you own the base! But it only works against newbies.
|
Not if you take the sensor array out first with a massive airstrike, and send a cyborg commando together with the engineers.

Mighty Gorgons in HOMM III. Get a large enough stack of them, and their Death Stare will take out anything. Nothing's more satisfying than taking out your opponent's stack of 5 Azure Dragons (with a combined total of 5000 HP) with your relatively miniscule stack of Mighty Gorgons.
Vampire Lords in HOMM III. Their power just keeps growing as their stack gets larger -- a single ArchAngel can take out ten Vampire Lords, but a hundred Vampire Lords will make mincemeat of ten ArchAngels.
Phoenixes in HOMM III. Not only are they the fastest unit in the game, but they're also immune to fire. Get a hero with a high enough Spell Power, fill your army with Phoenixes (plus a few Magic Elementals and Energy Elementals, just in case your enemy has some Black Dragons or something), and Armageddon the hell out of everybody. Wutang!

You know it's not a girls game when the female commando soldier runs around in the snow dressed in linguere.
Tanya's job is to be an expert on blowing things, does that make her a blowjob expert?

The Ancient Behemoth. This creature is 40% cheaper in gold than the ArchAngels, yet it can kill them.
The Best cost-efficient unit in HoMMIII (maybe phoenix has better cost-efficient than Ancient Behemoth, but then who will let you play the overpowered conflux anyway?).

Again, with cool I didn't mean "cost effective" or something like that, I meant "fun".

gotta agree, for pure fun in the TBS genre, planet busters are it.
i mean, you turn part of a continent into a puddle! what compares to that?
still thinking about an rts unit.....

A planet crusher. A stellar convertor in MoO 2 reduces a planet to asteroids.

Man, they really have to make a laughing face that cries!
Another unit I like is the Death Star in Star Wars Rebellion. Just the fact that when you order them to blow up a planet, you get a nice cut scene fills me with Imperial Pride.

I have never tried it myself, but I could imagine the Tesla tank in some of the Red Alert expansions could add some gaming value.
Hey, let's fry some infantry!
Then the nutcracker sound when you smash infantry under a harvester in any C&C clone is awesome!!!

Vampire Lords's power doesn't grow, they just regain their health, they can never resurrect more Lords than they started with
Also I'm not sure about the 100 Vampire Lords winning against 10 Archangels, but the Archangels could win if you divided the Archangels into groups of 3+3+4 as they can then resurrect a dead stack of Archangels.. that combined with some spellcasting and they would kill the Lords... of course if you're fighting against enemy wizards they could also call in some spellpower... I think it's hard to say

True, I meant that the more vampire lords you've got in a stack, the tougher it becomes to make them stay dead. Ten vampire lords just can't drain health fast enough from a single ArchAngel, whereas a hundred vampire lords are a veritable resurrection machine.

I love sending in infantry swarms in RTS games - even if they are ineffective. I once took out an enemy tank with squads of light infantry in Dune2. Of course, I lost quite a few people and building enough soldiers to kill that tank cost me more than building a tank of my own, but fun was had by all. Except the dead infantry.
