Nearly every major Marvel character is in some phase of development right now.
A new Punisher movie:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/145...25/index.jhtml
A Hulk movie (with an awful looking CGI Hulk):
http://www.thehulk.com/
Nic Cage is interested in Ghost Rider (although it's getting iffy I think)
http://www.superherohype.com/ghostrider/
Vin Diesel is interested in Silver Surfer (SS is Stan Lee's dream movie. He's been talking about it since the late 70s):
http://www.thezreview.co.uk/comingso...lversurfer.htm
There's also Captain America and Iron Man projects underway also I believe.
Factoring in more X-Men and Spiderman movies, plus the Superman and Batman projects currently in development, I would say the comic movie bubble will probably burst pretty soon.
I'm still dreaming of a 60's era Nick Fury movie starring Kurt Russell.

I thought there was talk about Josh Hartnett as Superman, but he didn't want to commit to multiple pictures.
Also, Halle Berry is supposedly going to play Catwoman...

vin Diesel is the Surfer....now that is a travesty.
I think the X-Men series could've taken some major liberties with the 'Comic Book adaptation' genre and been better off with it; ie getting rid of the costumes or toning them down.
Something like those Chris Claremont X-men books where it's just Wolverine and Storm and Kitty in 'civilian' clothes. Fighting ninjas. Yeah, ninjas. That's the ticket.
The whole Ogun-Kitty Pryde storyline would make a good movie.
For the Surfer....they should go all out, unapologetically mid-70s acid trip Surfer, Disco collar characters, wierd 'abstract realms' and all.
Galactus should be Christopher Walken and the Surfer should be Gary Oldman.
Who should be the Surfers girls?
Wife
Nova
Mantis
What Storyline would be good?? Not the modern crap...
Elders of the Universe? Celestials?
I'd also like to see Dr. Strange....but who could play him?

Can't have too many ninjas...

How about Peter Hooten...did they ever actually end up making a series from this awful thing?

Blah...
The best bit of X-Men 2 is when The Punisher shows up and spanks professor x.
Nah, just edited out potential spoiler even though I don't think it really was.

Hunting down that delightful piccie for Doctor Strange has made me think...this does remind me slightly of the late 70s Marvel craze for trying to get their characters onto TV. Some success with Spiderman and the Hulk led to the above travesty...and a shot at Captain America (which they then tried again on the big screen a decade+ later, but the less said about THAT the better).
Can anyone think of the others from Marvel that were tried in the 70s and 80s?
DC had Superman (movie), and Wonder Woman (TV)...and Swamp Thing (oh dear, oh dear, TV)...and then the Batman franchise on the big screen.
(Note I'm talking live action here)...

(MikeH: I posted in the Spoiler thread to bring it to the front.)

"Marvel on TV? Apart from SPidey and The HUlk?"
Believe me, if you haven't seen Doctor Strange or the 78/79 Captain America pilots...um...then don't, unless you are very drunk, in which case they might seem a bit amusing.
Ah...was Doc Savage Marvel?
Ooh...quick google search shows he was...and that's important because? That was another rubbish TV movie (or was it a "real" film?) I seem to remember...
...and YES...Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze (1975).
(Thank you imdb).
Friday afternoons....don't you just love 'em?

There is some talk about a new Superman movie, and Josh Hartnett was in the plans to be Superman... but apparently everything in is the limbo now, even Brett Ratner (who directed Red Dragon and Rush Hour 1 and 2) abandoned the project (or was "forced" to abandon it ). I remember that Nicholas Cage wanted to play Superman , and at that time people talked about Tim Burton being the director, but that was a long time ago

I wonder what Hollywood is going to do when they run out of comic book stories to rip-off. Maybe they'll have to come up with original stories.

There is enough comic book stories to last for the next 200 years, depending how obscure they want to go.

After they put out a movie with each character, I'm hoping for an Atlantis Attacks mega movie, maybe a trilogy.

Best superhero movie ever has to be Unbreakable. :wacky: But thats just because all the over-dramatization of superhero movies just gets on my nerves.
The time is ripe for Captain America though.
